I decided to change my rear diff fluid this week. Boy am I glad I did! The level was fine, but the magnet had tons of goop on it. The worst part was I drove around for a bit to warm the fluid up (it was about 40 degrees out) and when I went to change it, the fluid was full of foam! So I got that junk out of the rear and got some good M1 Syn in there.

Oh, and I've seen a lot of discussion about what weight oil to put in the rear - I have an '05 and the rear cover has stamped in it "only use 75W140 Synthetic". So folks to have '04's seems like changing the stock oil weight to 75W140 would be o.k.

Thats what I'll be doing as soon as I get the whole kit in the mail, I've got the 04 so I ordered the new aluminum finned rear cover kit, with all the necessary hardware and oil!

Glad to here your change went well

In fact Nissan calls for all rears on Titans to now use the new 75/140W synthetic gear oil. I changed it in my 04 as well as changing to the 05s finned aluminum diff. cover. I tow a 28' camper so I want to be sure I'm safe.
