I have actually had a reciever hitch split all but 6" or so of the 18" of welds on each side from a heavy trailer being towed over rough terrain at speed. Was lucky I made it to my destination before it split and dumped. Where the trailer tongue should have been parallel with the road it was dipped down with the hitch to form a shallow V!
Hopefully a system like this would lessen the stress on such loads.
