: How do the Titans perform Off-Road?

Hello,

Just purchased a Titan and I love it! In fact, had it in the snow the last week and it did great.

However, after an exhaustive search on Google, I can't find any reviews about how well they do off-road.

I had another Nissan that I purposely tried to get stuck and could never actually get it stuck. This includes doing some amazing stuff like climbing a 6 foot snow bank in powder, going up a completely deserted road (again, in 2' of fresh powder and nothing but 6' of snow) and making a U-Turn about 1/2 mile back. The only thing I ever had to do was ensure that the tires were 5 pounds low and that I didn't do anything insane, like drive off a steep cliff in soft powder and all was good.

I know my original Nissan was not a full-size and probably weighed about 2000 lbs less, but with it's bigger engine, better traction and skids, it should do good???? Correct?

I just don't want to go balls out and take this thing into the mud pits from hell without knowing that it will at least perform decent.

Any experienced off-roaders out there who know what a Titan will actually do?

By the way, I love the VDC in the snow. Get sideways and it won't let you spin!!!

Stock tires are kinda weak. Other than that..good to go, does pretty good. PRG spacers with the urethane bump stops help with the harsh bottoming too.

Off roads fine for a stock rig. Oh they don't swim too bad either.....http://www.clubtitan.org/modules/coppermine/albums/userpics/14680/thumb_FremontTitan.jpg

Well, that's good to know.

I just replaced the tires last week with a set of Toyo Open Country A/Ts and it seems to stick pretty good in the snow now. In fact, even on slight black ice the VDC would lock and keep it from coming around. However, the fun starts if you hit that VDC button 8O

I haven't taken it out in the mud yet however. Haven't been off road much, but it's definitely in the plans soon!!

I just got back from Vegas this last week and there were hundreds of places to shoot off road, but didn't want to risk anything major without a friend in tow... so to speak. So, I bypassed my urge to bury it in soft sand and steep hills. Next time!!

Thanks for the info. Yes, I bought one even before asking. After reading most of the reports, I figured it was a great vehicle and if it needed some mods, I'd just do it.

Probably a leveling kit next and then to put those plastic air things around the window to keep my switches dry during the rain. The only bad design I could find is the window switch location during the rain.

I run mine in the desert and I get kinda annoyed with the anti slip crap. I want the tires to spin so I can dig in deeper and hit hard ground.
One thing I am sure I will find out eventually is if I get it buried at all four corners will all the wheels lock up if there spinning?

We just took ours out to a small cinder pit and it seemed to climb very good for stock tires on loose surface material.

Mine runs great off road. In fact I have had the distinct pleasure of towing a Jeep through some soupy mess (with the stock tires). I don't have any problems with the anti slip, I just turn it off. My tires did get a bit worn after about 32k miles so I put some BFG A/Ts on her and she's tearin' it up like a champ.

the third month i had mine i had the distinct pleasure of pulling a Dodge out of some dozer ruts out in a popular OR spot. He was not happy needless to say. I did get stuck in the process but all i needed to get out was a cum along. It sucks when both back wheels fall in a three foot deep whole.
