Why do you need 15 buyers to make the deal of $245 shipped? It isn't that great a deal getting that many buyers. Hyperformanceauto has been at $239 shipped for over a month now with no group buy but he just ran out. For 15 buyers you need to make the price a little sweeter or drop it down to 10 or heck even 5 at that price. Do you have 15 gen 3's in stock? I spoke with Dan at Volant the other day and they have a big back order right now due to lack of materials.

David,

Your comment caught my attention since I just bought a new gen3 intake in December and I paid less than $296. I checked several of Volant's recommended online dealers from their website and almost everyone I clicked on was less than $296, including your site that sells them for $269.95. Some were $296, but offered a 10% off coupon.

Does that mean that Volant will not warranty my intake that I paid $267 for (bought from one of their recommended dealers) or any of the intakes sold on the many sites that Volant recommends? I contacted the company I bought mine from and they were not aware of this policy.

Your group buy is a good price (almost wish I would have waited or seen the deal at hyperformance), but it sounds like the warranty policy from Volant is the real problem to me. It would appear that Volant will not warranty the products that over half of their approved vendors are selling and worse yet, their vendors know nothing about it. That sounds a little crazy to me.

premiertruck
01-19-2006, 01:23 PM
This is new policy that Volant is implementing.

I am sure not all the dealers will know about that new policy.

The main problem is not authorized dealers, but the guys who claim to be dealers and sell products out fo their house for next to nothing. Volant is trying to keep integrity in the products.

All of their warranty's will require a receip of purchase.

I will post the New Volant policy after they send me a copy. It is being worked on, and as soon as i have it, I will post it.

Thanks,
David

If I order the Volant Gen 3 & PowerAid TB Spacer Combo for $330.00 Shipped, what does the TB Spacer do for me? What is it's actual function? How would the install be on the combo, easy? Do the parts work well together or would I have to do something creative to connect them?

Sup Fellas - You can do a search within the forums and find a ton of info not just on the CAI and TBS but everything else, seriously. Here are a couple of links that are in the DIY section:

Volant:

PowerRaid:
http://www.clubtitan.org/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=1078

I would encourage you to get the combo. In all my research (on this site), I've found that a lot of CT members are happy with it (no matter what brand they go with) and do see, feel, and hear an difference in performance. Check out the posted Dynos for proof and spend a little time searching through this forum, we got a lot of smart, creative guys on here that are cool enough to share their knowledge. You won't be dissappointed.

I installed my Volant today, took about 1.5 hrs (didn't rush it). It does make the truck much louder when you stomp on it.

I had a couple minor issues with the install.

- When you remove the old air filter housing, there is a bracket left where that was screwed into. This bracket was in the way of the Volant, so I bent it back and forth until it broke off, then all was good.

- I installed the sensor with the self tapping screws before I mounted the tube, this made it easier to accomplish without being in an odd angle.

Questions for those who have installed it already.

- When I stomp on the gas, at about 2,500rpm there is a brief vibration coming from the top of my driver door. Does anyone else get this? Some weird harmonic vibration from all the air being sucked in???

- When you install the sensor, can it be installed in either direction? I'm just wondering if I might have installed it upside down.

- Does your tube/filter kinda float in the box? Mine is securly fasten on the throttle body, but on the opposite end, it doesn't make a tight connection with the box so it bounces around a little.

Thanks!!!!

I just installed my V3 yesterday. Got mine from a different dealer thinking the GB would take longer. Oh well I paid $10 more. Big deal. My install went without issue. Took me 30 minutes. I dont know why a lot of guys have issues with the stock bracket being in the way of the box. Mine had plenty of clearance without touching the bracket. There is no way I would break it off. Now the option of returning to stock is taken away. As for the vibration you described. I notice it a bit as well. It is a bit of resonance thorugh the cab when you really get on it. Really only notice it with the windows up and it doesn't bother me at all. I don't do mods for the truck to sound of feel stock. As for the filter moving a bit in the box that is normal. There is supposed to be a bit of movement to allow for engine torque. The MAF MUST be installed the proper way. If the push tab on the harness is towards you it is the correct direction although I'm sure you got it right. You would know it if your MAF was backwards.

This bracket was in the way of the Volant, so I bent it back and forth until it broke off, then all was good.

I removed that bracket too - figuring if for any reason I had to put the stock box back in (highly doubt it), I still have the 2 bolts from inside.

I really love the sound! and that slight wistle from the TBS is a nice touch.

This tank of gas is toast, but next one I'll try to take it easy and see if my numbers improve.

Thanks again to David and Eric at PREMIERTRUCK. Good deal, good product and even better customer service!

I've got a little extra cash laying around.

Tell me what's the install like. Bolt on or a little work involved? Good fit or adjustments needed?

I've got a little extra cash laying around.

Tell me what's the install like. Bolt on or a little work involved? Good fit or adjustments needed?

I purchased the CAI and TBS and I can tell you that you WILL notice a difference in sound and performance. It's great. Highly recommended.

Installation of the TBS is pretty straight-forward.

On the other hand, I had some difficulty installing that HUGE Volant air box. That thing is a tight squeeze, and I too was about to remove that factory bracket. I ended up just bending it back a little bit and all was well.
Another thing, the Volant air tube and the TBS together do not clear the fan shroud. So I trimmed about 1/4" from each end of the rubber reducer that connects the air tube to the throttle body. I also removed nearly 1/4" from the air tube itself at the end where it meets the throttle body. All that trimming made clearance a whole lot better. I haven't measured, but I think there's now about 1/2" to 3/4" clearence.
Other than those minor hang-ups, the install isn't too bad.

Ehhh, my book is still checked out on the TBS. From everything I have read spacers never do anything when tested by an unassociated bystander like that Popular Mechanics article. Does the Volant spacer whistle like the Airaid does? Several people have said it seems that may be where they got the name from, air raid.... :P

Thanks Jerm for the info.

On another note, I talked to my local Nissan service manager and he said that if I put anything on other than the NISMO CAI he would not warranty anything engine related done the road. Unless I find out different, I'm probably going to stick to stock or look further at the NISMO.

Hello SMPLMN,

You may want to read the Magnuson-Moss Act, cause your service manager is full of BS. Why would 1 cold air void a warranty but a nismo wont. NO Cold air intake voids the warranty.

Magnuson-Moss Act : http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/buspubs/warranty.htm

Print out the Magnuson-Moss Act and bring it to your sevice manager have him read it and see what he says.

David

He can not do that. It has to be proven that the part added caused the failure. Read Davids link and read the sticky on changing the exhaust and warraty. He is either ignorant or a lying sack. I suspect both :P However, if you insist I do have a slightly used Nismo I'm willing to part with :D

Well I got mine and all the pieces parts are lying in the middle of the livingroom floor. There's no instructions! I doubt I'll need any, but what's the big square extra piece of foamy mat for?? Is that supposed to go somewhere or is it replacement for the lid?

The big square piece is to go under the box itself before you bolt it down to the truck, prevents from rattleing, and O ya have fun putting that dam 20" piece of rubber on the air box itself, what a B----, that was!!! Good luck.

Btw-Got my airbox, and TB spacer in the other day, already installed, and WOW what a difference, I dont need no dam dyno to tell me I got more HP, I can feel in. And if it's only in my head that I feel it thats just fine with me, because it sounds really nice, Thanks again.

This was my first GB, I popped my cherry, and It was the best!!!!!!! Thank You again!!!!!!

Ok thanks. Heh, if you mean the gasket piece where the box meets the fender, it took about 2 minutes.

So, did you go from stock to the Volant or from something else?

Ok thanks. Heh, if you mean the gasket piece where the box meets the fender, it took about 2 minutes.

I went from stock to volant, And yes I had a fun time getting to that last bottom bolt on the stock air box, I used my BIG TRUSTY FLAT HEAD SCREW DRIVER and busted a piece out to gain access to the bolt!

Dam it, it only took you 2 min to get it on, well for me it was 30degree's out my fingers were freezing and the dam rubber was hard as hell!!!!(none of that last statement sounded right, but you know what I mean!!!)

I'm interested if it's still $245 shipped like in January.

Volant had a price increase at the beginning of the month. The price has increased, but we are still offering a very aggressive price to all CT Members.
