last I heard, there's still LOTS of problems with SP2, ie, incompability with MS Outlook, AMD Processors, etc.

I'm gonna do some more research, but since I'm running an AMD processor, I'll wait.

Just my $.02............

Well I dont know what problems it would be but I use all AMD, except in my server. Its a pentium 4 xeon. The other 5 are AMD. I have always prefered AMD for my game machines and everyday computers.

Well I don't use the built in firewall for one thing. The only thing on the list there that I do use is ZoneAlarm and I haven't noticed a problem. If you have doubts though just wait. Can't hurt anything to wait. They will come up with an update to fix there update that was supposed to fix some other updates. LOL

Hey m4ck - Thanks for the info on the sp2 update. I usually check for those, but guess I missed it. Just installed (it took forever) and all seems well.

installed, took several hours to download. Now computer turns on much slower. No other problems after I killed the MS firewall. Took two tries, first time it snuck back in when I turned computer back on.
I can not figure out the whole internet provider thing, at my house connecting at 44K is the fastest I have ever gotten. My work is less than a mile down the road and the internet there is 100mbps. But all local providers say no way to even broadband except by expensive satelite.

That sucks Chris I have been on Cable modem for over 5 years now. I will never go back to dial up. I get 3mb down and 256k upload. I wouldn't mind going to DSL maybe if they ever get it in my area. But I'm content right now. Even though my cable bill is 130 a month with the modem.

It took me a long time to download and install as well. Not as long as you because I'm on broadband, but longer than I expected.

I have a strange problem though. I turned off the Firewall in the security center, but it still shows as on in the main window in the "security center". When I click on the "windows firewall" link it shows that I selected for the firewall to be off. I'm confused!!!!

I also get booted of IE now and I never did before. Has anyone had these issues?

I had to not only turn off the firewall but check the box under it about having a different firewall that I will monitor or it kept creeping back in on me. I still have IE, but at the speed I surf it doesn,t hurt to crash! Actually it hasn't ever caused me any grief so I have been too lazy to change. 8)

I had problem with SP2. I called my ISP and they said that it is a known problem.

After installed SP2, I couldn't connect to the internet. My PC couldn't get IP address from the router and other problems that I don't remember on top of my head. Uninstalled SP2, everything worked fine. No SP2 for now

I installed SP2 on my AMD 64 machine and have had no problems with it. You folks who have had problems: did you download the service pack or did you install it from CD? Perhaps if you downloaded it you got some file corruption that is causing your problem. I ordered my copy on CD from Microsoft; it was free and arrived in about two weeks.
