w/ the 3 inch body lift...what does this do w/ the trucks warranty?

i have the CST 8" lift..and im thinkin of doin the body lift too.
but i only have 10k on the truck..wouldnt wanna void more warranties.
i do not go offroadin..so the lift would just be for looks..and looks.=)

any input would be highly appreciated.

did you ever have warranty issues bcoz of the body lift?

So what set-up you have on your lift? I figure you have the stage 1 with new coils and rear shocks right? because I don't think you can add a 6" rear lift with the stage 1's shocks, or is that what you got?

Sweet truck man, looks awesome .
Was the body lift easy to do ?

I like the look, but I couldn't live with the slower performance of 37's. Maybe 35's, but no more. It does look good though.

ALL BODY LIFT KITS are time consuming. But they are a CHEAP lift. Just have to loosen all the wire mounts and drop the radiator, etc etc, put a 3 inch block under every body mount. Lengthen some hoses. That sort of thing. Should not effect the warranty anymore than a standard lift. Probably would effect it less, because you are only lifting the body off the frame, not messing with drivetrain components.

How hard is to put a body lift? Is it something that can be self done, or needs to be done at a shop? I might consider this in the future. How's the ride with it?

not sure about the titan, but i did one on my last 2 vehicles , a sierra z71 and an f150 cc, the ford was a pain in the @ss, they use locktite on evrything but they really aren't that complicated

Just alot of lengthening lines, lowering the radiator, lengthening the fuel tank hose, raising the bumpers up to match the new height, putting the 3 inch blocks under each mount. It is very time consuming, and its not a one person job for the most part. But it is what it is, a CHEAP lift kit, cheap as in price. The ride is the same, as the suspension stays the same.

Do you need any kind of special tools, and so forth? How do you put the spacers on each mount? How would you lift the body without lifting the frame, so you can install the spacers?

i knew a guy that used hockey pucks to accomplish his body lift on a old 4runner

You use blocks of wood on a jack or for the bed just have your helper lift up a corner and slide the spacer under. Of course this is after you have loosened them ALL up first. No special tools JUST PATIENCE and alot of time.

I've seen several of these HOME MADE / ABORTION lifts. Cutting springs, making home made shackles, (taking two pieces of steel then drilling holes in them and bolting them onto the spring pack and doing the same in the front! Popular with JEEPS. When I was on the sheriffs dept, and being an x- mechanic, I looked and busted evryone I saw. Example: A guy at the shopping center had to find a way home after he watched his jeep leave on a flat bed. He had made a 6 inch home made shackle lift. The leaf springs were hanging crooked. Another was a brain child driving an F250 with his own block kit, this idiot used BRICKS and put them under the FRONT and Rear spring pack. His wasn't as bad as the first, so he got a paying ticket and inspection ticket. This junk is a hazard to everyone on the road. I have always said if you can't buy a PROFESSIONALLY Built kit, WAIT till you can.

It wouldn't even cross my mind to do my own lift. That is just common sense. Pro-Comp, Fab-Tech, CST, etc. all do a good amount of R & D to design and build their lifts.

I don't understand how this kit can be junk if it's sold for almost $400.00. How is this possible? How adding 3" in every mount makes the truck a hazard? I could understand the home made ones, but not when you spend that much money. So you mean to tell me that adding a spacer in the coilover makes the truck hazard? It's the same concept.

Thats not what I said, I'm NOT talking about the Body Kit, I'm referring to the HOME MADE/Hockey puck crap. The body kit will be fine, if you buy the kit, NOT make your OWN!

Not a lot of people can afford $4,000.00 worth of lift. This might be cheap for some, but some work hard and don't make a lot of money. I find some of these coments very offensive.
I refuse to believe a kit worth $350.00 is junk.
I was referring to the home-made hockey puck kits. I have a PRG spacer and love it. That is professionally designed.

6" PROCOMP AND 3" BODY LIFT
Sweet set up. I'm running 6" Fabtech lift, Radflo's for an extra 1.5" Deavers 2.5" and a 4" block. I'm also running 37's with some minor trimming. Next step is the body lift. How is the ride with the bodylift? Does it feel or have more body roll?

EastCoast4whlr
09-26-2006, 08:10 AM
A body lift doesn't effect the ride as the suspension is the same. You will feel more top heavy, because now you are 3 inches higher. Sometimes you may feel more vibration, or road vibration being transmitted through the blocks.

I almost bought a body kit when my spindle/leveling kit lift wouldn't clear my tires, but ended up going with the DR coilovers at Chicks' suggestion. I'm sooooooooo glad I did it! I cleared the tires just fine with the additional inch of lift and didn't have to mess with bumper brackets, gap guards, having the frame visible, etc.

I don't think she's seen the "Go-Rhino" bars yet. ...might as well start budgeting for it now.

Plenty of time to get 'em powder coated red before the hits.
