: How To - ECO Fuel Systems Install
BiXLL 03-11-2006, 05:54 PM This is a very simple and straight foward install that pretty much anybody will be able to do. You will need 1 tool that not everybody has laying around the garage, a fuel line/ac line seperator. I got a kit of different sizes made by All Pro, from Advanced Auto Parts for $10.00.

You will need the one marked for size 3/8. This tool is slit down the side, so you just fit it over top of the line, and push it into the fitting of the fuel line. At the same time, you are pulling the fuel line away from the tool.

Elivate fuel line once it is removed, out of the way so as not to let fuel leak out. Nest decide where you want to locate your new ECO filter. I have seen some attached to the air conditioning line that runs close by, I decided to mount it to my Volant Air Box so it could be more readily seen, as well as the stainless steel line! It really doesn't matter, personal prefrence. If you decide to mount to Volant box, remove lid, drill 2 holes about 3/8" apart on each side where the fittings at the end of the filter are. Run 2 wire ties through the holes and around the filter fittings.

Now take the stock line you took off and attach to the end of the new filter, it just snaps on, and is locked. Attach the braided line to the fitting you removed the stock line from the same way. YOU ARE DONE!!!!

NKTITAN711 03-13-2006, 08:46 PM Nice pics and help Bill. They're no JetTech installation instructions  , but they're still great!!! I can't wait for this mod. Did you get the Eco3 with all of the chrome etc. etc???
Yes mines the ECO3. Nice addition baseballfanz, I might like to also add the you must remove the grey plastic housing at the blue arrow to get to the connection.
Nice clean engine compartment there Bixll. Yeah I should have used my original install but the pictures were blurry. Thanks for the updated and thorough pics.
SniperT38 03-16-2006, 09:22 PM Hey Baseball, is it dusty in Texas, your engine looks a little dirty????
rexracer 03-22-2006, 07:22 AM I have a question about this install. I got my Eco-3 and the fitting on the end of the braided line has a black plastic cap of some kind. Does that stay on, or is it removed for the install? If it needs to come off, how does it come off?

It comes off, it is just a protective cap. I just used a small punch to slide along the outside of the cap, and wedged it in and up to get it out. It is held in by a spring type band inside the line.

huh? If it's the same thing I had on mine it was spring loaded and I just compressed it and pushed it onto the fuel rail until it clicked????

For some reason I don't have an option to edit the above post...plus the screen turned to a different skin...anyway I wanted to add that I didn't have the chrome line so that is probably the difference.

I thought that might be it, but I didn't want to destroy it trying to get it off. Too bad the tool doesn't have room to get in there and pop it off.
baseballfanz 03-22-2006, 03:16 PM Mine look like this, it's the ECO 3 non chrome non braided line. Is that black part suppose to be there or should have been taking off?

llajumpvid 03-22-2006, 06:40 PM Thats what mine looked like too. I just got my #3 (THANKS BEN) and when I opened the package that plastic piece was in the bottom of the bag...with a few pieces of it broken off. Crap I hope one of those pieces didn't brake off on the one I already installed and went internal...I suspect I'd of had a problem by now if it did???? I'm guessing it's not suppose to be on????
llajumpvid 03-22-2006, 07:11 PM Leaving it on makes it easy to take off of the fuel rail, you just slide the collar back and it'll pop right off. I've sent an email to Ben asking if it should be on or off. I'll post as soon as he gets back to me. I'm guessing it doesn't make a difference.
baseballfanz 03-22-2006, 07:11 PM Hopefully Ben will jump in here and let us know.
I took mine off, seems to me it would make it too easy to take off with that left on. I just assumed it was a protective cap, I can't believe you would be supposed to leave a piece of plastic on involved with the fuel line????
llajumpvid 03-22-2006, 09:16 PM Per email fro Ben
"It is not necessary. It is the release tool that comes with the fitting. I personally don't like it cause it makes it easier for someone to take your ECO OFF of your truck!"
rexracer 03-22-2006, 09:16 PM Well, I guess it wasn't a stupid question. Maybe it can be left on so you don't need a special tool to remove it.
baseballfanz 03-23-2006, 12:04 AM I guess as long as the gas is not leaking we're fine with in on.
CHAP8HER 03-31-2006, 09:17 AM When buying the tool to remove the fuel line do not get the metal one. It will not fit over the hump in the line get the plastic one much better.
ECOTAZ 08-06-2006, 03:51 PM I guess as long as the gas is not leaking we're fine with in on.
Sorry I've been gone for a while, We have been extremely busy with Sheriff's Departments and City and County equipment here in Texas and Nevada. Business has picked up in New York and Virginia as well. Not to mention My youngest son got married last week, My daughter and son-in-law had their first son the week before that and my oldest son and daughter-in-law had their 2nd son 8 days before that. Everyone is doing great!
The Plastic fitting on the quick disconnect works as a release tool for the unit, however many owners remove it so that it makes it harder for some to take off your ECO Unit. With out the plastic fitting you will need the plastic quick disconnect tool to take off the injection rail. With or without it makes no difference on performance, it is totally your choice.
Thanks to all that participated in these instructions, it shows how great this forum really is.
Thanks to all of you for your continued support of the ECO-System and for Polluting a lot less into the air we all breathe. With the cost of fuel continuing to rise it makes your investment WELL worth the cost.
Again thanks to all of you for giving us the chance to prove this great product.

You won't see a huge difference city driving, hwy driving will get you anywhere from 1 to 2 mpg, at least for me. Might not sound like much but in the long run it add up. Plus it keep your engine cleaner.
