: Is it just my windows that get hazy and filmy
Ok I have noticed that its a real pain to keep the front winow clean. I drive at night to work so I can tell really easy that there is this nasty haze or film kinda like the film you see on the inside of a heavy smokers car. I dont notice it on any other window but the front window. Is there something that they have put on it or on the inside that makes it like this. I have cleaned it with several different glass cleaners and when I'm done cleaning they look good but by night time they are filmy again. Any tips I would appreciate it. If you drive at night you know why I hate this because when lights from traffic hit it you can not see out.
thanks

firecracker 09-17-2004, 12:17 PM Same problem here M4ck! We use 50/50 alcohol/water mix on our acft, so I tried it. It works fine....NO More haze! And, yes it is on all the windows, it's just more noticeable on the front :)
JetTech 09-17-2004, 01:04 PM oddly enough if you use newspaper and any kind of window cleaner to clean your windshield it will not leave a film.

I have heard that from a guy I know who is a car detailer for an Audi dealership.
I can not use alchohol on my windows because of the tint. The tint guy told me it would mess it up. I have to use water and soap. Or so he said. On the outside I can but this stuff is on the inside. Well at least I can do the front window. The rest will have to keep the film

And on your tinted windows use a window cleaner that is amonia and alcohol free. It's easily available at all car parts stores. I use an old T-shirt on my side and rear windows with no haze at all.
NDJollyMon 09-18-2004, 12:22 AM I get the same haze as well. I was told that a mixture with vinegar will take it off. Don't know if that would work with your tint.
I have another car that gets the haze too. It's a Chevy.
just_chris 09-18-2004, 03:05 AM Mine is guilty also. I have found that some cleaners are much worse that others. The Armor-All glass wipes in the little bucket are horrible for not only leaving the film but I think making it worse. I have some NAPA glass cleaner in a spray can that seems to keep it off for about a week. But it has amonia so not a good choice for you. I will have to quit using it on the sides after I get the front ones tinted. But that could be a while the closest auto tint place that actually knows how to tint is about 90 miles away. 8)
rcflier97 09-18-2004, 09:41 PM It's my understanding that the haze comes from the plastic inside the cabin. My Chevy has done this since I bought it. Just something to live with! :?
MikeD 09-20-2004, 10:15 PM I really think all vehicles have this problem. It's more noticable at night or when the sun hits the windshield just right. I've had good luck just using a microfiber towel and just buffing like mad. My windows only seem to get that film real bad when I don't have any cleaner or rag (proably like getting a flat when you don't have a spare). The Stiener's Invisable glass seems to get most of it off.
BiXLL 09-21-2004, 07:12 AM Mine is so bad, that you can see the sticker that the dealer had in the upper right corner to identify stock number and such. I mean you can actually read the numbers, and the sticker aint there! I have found nothing to get the haze off. I will try the alcohol thing next.
USMCUglyAngel 09-21-2004, 06:39 PM I've heard its from the defroster. Even if its not on, dust and that film collect on the glass from the engine. This is what I've heard...
BiXLL 09-21-2004, 08:19 PM The wife added alcohol to windex, and I tried the newspaper wipe technique. It worked GREAT!!!! I had heard of using newspaper a long time ago, but never tried it. It works so much better then a cloth or paper towel!

Cool, I need to buy a newspaper and take my own advice. The dealership did a terrible job of cleaning my new baby....the windows are scuzzy!!

JT be careful! Make sure you don't read that thing first! I wouldn't want to see you hurt yourself.

DeesT 09-23-2004, 12:30 AM I dont know if they still make it or not, but I have an old bottle of eagle one glass cleaner and polish that works great. It looks like liquid wax. I also have eagle one plastic polish and cleaner that works well on the tinted windows.
05titan4us 06-26-2006, 07:14 PM Nothing beats old fashion elbow wax and newspaper. Works great everytime.
Rossi 06-26-2006, 07:36 PM Man this post is almost as old as the planets themselves!!!! Funny to read Bill and Dale picking fun at one another back in the begining...and Josh can't even figure out how to clean his windows!! LoL JK
docweedon 06-26-2006, 07:52 PM The plastic from the dash is "breathing." Basically it emits a gas. This is why the inside of the windows get hazy.
You can always make your own window wash if you don't want to buy Window cleaner. Just mix 1 part vinegar to 2 parts water. Great window cleaner.
puckerth 06-26-2006, 07:52 PM Wow, at first I was like "JetTech is back!" but then I recognized the date.
I picked up a weird shammy looking ball at Walmart and it works great for removing haze. Easier than anythng else I've ever tried (in case anyone is still unsure what to use after 3 or so years).
Crazy_Steve 06-26-2006, 07:57 PM Wow, this thread is 2 years old!
got_titan 06-26-2006, 08:32 PM good info though! haze sucks! lol
05titan4us 06-26-2006, 08:44 PM I figured it was time to wake up this post since it is getting close to summer and ppl will have their windows down a lot and will need to clean them frequently.
KingBean 06-26-2006, 08:58 PM for starters don't use a greasy snot on your dash. armorall and the like bakes off your dash and leaves a film. I had major problems (I was heavy on the greasy snot) but a majority of my problems subsided when I started just using micro fiber cloths to clean the dash. I have never used anything but a microfber cloth on the Titan and have only needed the usual cleanings.

It is called gassing off, they talked about it on another forum. It depletes with age, unlike humans.

If only it would deplete with age in humans.
Back to the film, mine is getting better as time goes on. I do not use armor all & use the sun shade seems to work with slowing it down anyway.
little_golden_titan 06-28-2006, 02:30 AM Use vodka and a newspaper. Works like a champ and also a great way to relax when the job is done.
