: Succesful Weekend!
SimplyTitan 02-14-2005, 05:40 PM I got all six speakers replaced in the truck and an alpine amp installed and working in one day! It is a very easy job on the titan. I have the baseline stereo currently. All together I think I spent about $300 bucks so far. I replaced the front dash speakers with 3.5in 2 way RF speakers, front door was replaced with three way pioneer 6x9's and the back was 6.5 pioneer two ways. I spliced into the factory harness with a LOC and got the amp hooked up really nice with no exposed wires. I will have to take some pics of the amp (located under the drivers seat). Next up is a new headunit, probably an Alpine, I am partial to their decks. Then another amp and a very small sub maybe some 8's, I don't like losing any room in the truck.
The hardest part was finding somewhere to run the amp power cord through the firewall and the front door speakers. The 3.5 speakers for those curious took a little cutting but they are in their snug. The rear doors are a synch. With the new speakers and amp the sound is much cleaner. I realize everyone has their own tastes, but this was pretty easy and inexpensive way to improve the sound.
Chief I saw you had questions about your music sound. I would suggest first installing an amp and seeing if you like it. I was somewhat dissapointed with the tone but I think it will improve with the head unit. I too don't like a brain rattling bass, but something good and deep.
I know I should post this in the other section but I had planned if anyone wants a hot to on this area I can post a more in depth description there.
QWIKWHIP 02-14-2005, 06:03 PM Cool, it's always nice when things go as planned. Did ya shoot some pics with the door panels off? Just curious. :) Oh, check your PM's too. :)
Nice to here you sticking with Alpine there SimplyTitan!! Even though my head unit is a Pioneer Double Din, all the rest is Alpine. To clear up some of the questions some people may have, Pioneer FH-P5000 MP fits very well. The small gap underneath will be taken care of by the small frame that is supplied with the head unit. I need to take some photos for everyone. One other thing I must add is that I bought an Alpine MRP-F240(amp) to drive two sets of Alpine SPX-177R's(front and back). I have a crew cab, so I am not quite sure if this will apply to you king owners. But, behind the rear seats are 4 plastic framing bolts/inserts/thinga majigerbobs that hold the paneling in(half-way from the floor). Well, for the amp, those plastic framing/paneling holders are the perfect distance apart for the amp mounting bolts. PERFECT FIT!! So, the amp can be exposed and small square cuts can hide the RCA/Power/etc...behind the paneling. I was going to pay for someone to install everything. Glad I tried doing it myself first!!
If anybody needs some pointers on a good powercord route to the battery, I have one.

PTK, why don't you post some pictures and instructions in the "Do-it-yourself" section. That'll help lots of others out.
SimplyTitan 02-17-2005, 05:22 PM PTK,
I fell into some money this weekend so I am adding the Alpine deck and another amp for the rear speakers and a sub (maybe) now rather than later. I saw on circuitcity.com they have the Alpine CD player that was $399 on sale for $269. I read the reviews, they seem pretty good. Which one do you have installed? I want one that allows me to match as close as possible the interior orange lighting. Every Alpine that I have had is green. This says it is multicolor interchangable. Do you have any knowledge or anyone else for that matter, what is the best/fastest way to wire up an additional amp? Thanks!
Fiyakraka!
You are 100% correct!! I need to post these pics!! Man, I gots me so much sheot to do around here, so bare with me. I got this trusty 'ol digital camera I have to put to use.
Simply Titan,
I put in a Pioneer head unit(Pioneer excells when it comes to disk drives). I didn't put in an Alpine head unit due to the fact that I was more partial to how the double-din looked compared to the Pioneer. As for the lighting, I think Clarion is the only one that has the same color as our dash. The Pioneer I have is primarily blue. However, the main light that extends accross the front of the unit can be changed to 4 different types of blue, red, violet, *%$&in Pink, orange, or green. The Alpine you are looking into probably changes to all the same colors. The manufacture's would be really limiting there clientel if they only had one color.
As for the fastest and best and fastest way to hook up another amp, I don't know. This is the first amp hook-up since being in Japan. Since you have only one signal from the deck(head unit), your first amp to plug into will be the pre-amp. As to how it all work from there, consult the instructions. Gimmie 2 weeks, and I'll be able to answer your question.
