im wondering if 33x12.50 tires are the same height and width and 285/70/17 tires. Can anyone tell me the difference and also if the 33x12.50 would be wider and as tall. thanks

It's 32.7" OD of the tire regardless of the wheel dia.

In metric tire sizes 33X12X15 is same as 33X12X17 as far as tire OD goes.

Those are floatation sizes. Metric would be 285/70-17 and the tire diameter in metric sizes is entirely dependant on the rim size. A 285/70-15 is 2" shorter than a 285/70-17.
