: Anyone made a home made air intake ?
I am interested in making my own intake to draw air from the stock fog light holes. Has anyone done this and or do any of you have any info on doing this. I have found a couple sites on the net about doing it on cars. Any info you guys have would be nice.

firecracker 09-21-2004, 10:13 AM Darn, there goes my idea! LOL
I was also thinking about this, but kinda need to know the CFM required through those openings. I was under the impression that we needed to maintain at least 4.0 - 4.5 inche diameter tube to get enough air
??? dunno, still working on it, though. I'll get with you more later m4ck
ENDURANCE 11-22-2004, 10:04 AM Did this Several weeks ago, rebuilt the top of the air intake higher so I could fit a cone type in it, cut away most of the tube in the box to allow more air in, the tube built to the orginal cover was rebuilt using 3" pvc pipe, I cut a slot in the pipe for the MAF to fit in, so far no codes error has come up, and the engine feels stronger.

Man that is good work. Did you notice any difference after installing this mod.
ENDURANCE 11-29-2004, 12:46 PM Man that is good work. Did you notice any difference after installing this mod. Sure did, Not like a supercharger would do, but you notice things like going uphill and the truck doesn't want to down shift.
ENDURANCE 11-29-2004, 01:02 PM If any one is going to do the mod I have a few tips for you. (1) The size of the pvc piping must be 3" ID, I tried one that was only 2 3/4" and it keep throwing a code error (2) Make a mockup box out of cardboard first, then tansfer the the cardboard cut out to the sheet metal (3)The box does not snap down or anything because the hood keeps it in placed (4) Wrapped the whole thing in insul board (sunsceen dash protectors work good) and taped it up with aluminium tape.
ENDURANCE 11-29-2004, 01:07 PM From now on I am going to use my other nickname to sign on, TNTTITAN, some of you may remember me from Titan Talk, So no more ENDURANCE, the name is TNTTITAN, and the TNT stands for Taint Nuttin Toit,
firecracker 11-29-2004, 01:46 PM Okay, so what's the P/N of that filter?
TNTTITAN 11-29-2004, 02:01 PM Okay, so what's the P/N of that filter?I believe it's made by APC, it is called Intimidator
BiXLL 11-29-2004, 04:30 PM TNT, can you give us more of a straight on shot so we can see how you connected 3" pvc to the throttle body?
TNTTITAN 11-30-2004, 11:44 AM Probably not the shot you are looking for, I'll need to take some more when it stops raining again. As you can see the rain on the fender, it just rains everyday here.
TNTTITAN 11-30-2004, 11:56 AM The pvc tube connects just like the oem tube from the airbox cover, although it is a little bit larger OD than the oem tube, so I grinded the first inch of the tube down to about 1/8 thick, opened the band clamp all the way and it went on with no problems.
firecracker 11-30-2004, 12:39 PM That does look good! What did you paint your parts with? It looks like they're anodized.
firecracker 11-30-2004, 12:47 PM TNT, can you give us more of a straight on shot so we can see how you connected 3" pvc to the throttle body?
Looks like he used the OEM tube, just where it's connected right after the MAF sensor. It's just the short piece at the Airbox Top.
Is that correct?

Thanks I like the top strip but the bottom one is too much for me. How hard is it to add that or did you get the truck with it?

Thanks I like the top strip but the bottom one is too much for me. How hard is it to add that or did you get the truck with it?The top stripe is called truck stripes it is two stripes of silver metallic with a black stripe in the middle, each strip is 1/4 inch wide, I really did not like the black stripe so I went over it with a red stripe.Wasn't too hard to apply, with pinstriping you don't put it on slow you'll be all up and down, long arms seem to help too. What I sometimes do is use masking tape first because you can keep repositioning it till it looks good, then just follow the edge of the masking tape with the pin stripes.
hernan28 02-14-2005, 11:16 PM yes, it is bright, if works I am game.
