so heres the latest, i can get BF goodrich mud T/A's in the exact same size tire i have which will be 285/70/17, or i can go with goodyear wrangler MT/R in the 305/70r/17, which would be the biggest tire i can get on there with a leveling kit, tire doesnt look to bad, but im curious if anyone has had any bad luck with these tires? please tell me what you think? I could also go with cooper discoverer's in a 33x12.50/17 but there again its a smaller tire. I really like the dick cepeks, but i really dont want to get new rims, atleast not now.. anyways please tell me what you know or think, or have heard about any of these tires.. man i wish they made this simple..

anyone have any pics of a truck with a leveling kit and some new tires and/or wheels?

305/ 70 r17= 34"X12.1 r17. The biggest tire your supposed to get on just a leveled truck is 33x12.5's, which is exactly the set up I have with barely a 1/2 inch to spare on the mud flaps when the wheel is turned. The 305's may fit if you remove the flaps. The Goodyears are probably going to be louder than the BFG's, and IMO BFG makes a "better" tire with a better ride. Hope that helps.

Both BFG and GY MT are good trires but the GY will last longer

That's odd because ,myself and others are running hee BFG AT's in a 315/70/17 on stock rims w/ just a leveling kit. I took off my mud flaps though.

I wanted to try that, but couldn't find anything 34X12 in an 18" rim. So I had to get the 32.8x12.8 Terra's. maybe by the time I run through these nittos, someone will have made something.

I have been in the rock crawling scene for over 4 years now and I would say that if you plan to use these tires for only daily driving you will hate both. These tires are not really meant for street use on a daily basis, but If I had to choose I would go with the GY's because they will last longer and have a much stronger side wall (if you go off-road alot) Your best bet if you plan to drive this as a daily driver is save your money and go with the BFG AT's, those will get you anywhere off-road and will last tons longer than any of the 2 you mentioned.
I understand wanting a more aggresive looking tire, but you will hate it when you have to replace $200+ tires in a year. If you plan to beat your truck up off-road then go with the GY's, just go to any off-road site like Pirate 4x4 and read up on tires and 90% will agree that the BFG muds aren't that great compared to the MTR's

Agree with NM-Titan. Unless you are REALLY using this off-road a lot, I'd stay away from either one. If you just want the looks of a mud tire...well you'll just be dealing with the bad parts. Loud on the road, poor wearing, poor wet traction, etc.

As for a choice between the two, GY MTRs. I have them on my Jeep and love them. The Jeep is off-road only and gets towed to the trail. I did however run the GYs on the street for a few years. I thought they were quiter than most mud terrain tires. However you NEED to rotate them more often than other tires. I'd rotate every oil change or 3k miles. It will keep them from cupping and goes for any mud tire (IMHO) and they will last longer.

yeah, you deffinetly have to rotate them, i had some on my old ford and a couple of buddies had them and none of uf rotated them like you're supposed to so they wore very unevenlly....i went to the procomps on my ford and now my wife wants me to get them for the titan..i told her sure, you don't have to tell me twice...lol

I've got 1000 miles on my gy mtr's (305 70 17) and I love them. I barely notice a difference in sound. Get the Good Years they look way cooler anyway.

If I went with the GY MTR's on my 4X4 With the PRG 2" spacer do i need to do any trimming? Will I have to take the mud flaps off? How many miles do you think I'll get out of them? I only drive between 10-12,000 miles per year. What is the width of the 17" off road wheel?

I've got the 315/70/17 BFG ATs with the mini-lift (2" front, 1" rear). Had to trim the tiniest bit out of the fender liner. I had already removed the mud flaps because of the BW Flares. Love them.

Point is, either one of the tires you're interested in will fit with just the 2" leveling just fine.
