: Memorial Day Thank You!
Memorial Day was originally started to honor the men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Today we honor them as well as those still living, active and inactive. I would like to take the time and thank those people today. I know there are quite a few active military members on this site as well as veterans. Thanks for everything you have given and what you are willing to give to preserve the freedom's we take for granted everyday. Its people like you that have made this nation the greatest nation in the world. Eveyone on this site either has a relative who has served or knows someone who has served. Please take the time to thank them on this day of remembrance. Also remember that Memorial Day isn't the only day this can be done. I imagine any man or woman thanked for serving their country won't mind a bit if it was or wasn't Memorial Day.
Thanks Again!
AMDkid1 05-29-2006, 07:36 AM Thanks M4CK, Been Serving for 17 years now. Currently serving in Korea, I sure miss my Titan.
shailey 05-29-2006, 08:31 AM I thank you to everyone in the past that has ensured the fact that I can sit here at the computer and put in what I want while only getting blasted by fellow titan members. I also want to say thanks to the ones currently putting themselves in harms way and serving our country for people that they do not even know. Kind af saddens me to see all of the car ads and sales ads going on and I guarantee you that the majority of people do not give this Day of Remembrance a second thought as to why they have off.
Thank you servicemen and servicewomen.
SniperT38 05-29-2006, 08:43 AM Thanks M4ck,
I am a vet of the first Gulf War with the 3rd Armored Division. You hit the nail on the head, we ALL wish there wasn't a Memorial Day. Many people have forgotten or do not know the reason for this day. People find out I am a veteran and say "Happy Memorial Day". While they are well intentioned, I wished they would take the time to understand this important time.
To ALL of you who have lost someone, I will keep a good thought for you and your families!!!! Godspeed to our active troops overseas!!!
Rob
I just wanted to give my thanks and appreciation to those ClubTitan members and their families that have served or are currently serving in our military. You are the backbone of our country and have made, in some cases, the ultimate sacrifice, in upholding and defending freedom and democracy in our belove nation... thank you all. I salute you all!!!
LDOTITAN 05-29-2006, 09:33 AM Thanks, all. As a 23 year active duty member, I appreciate all the kind words. My thoughts this day goes to those who are actually in harms way. I have been lucky enough to have been either on a shore duty job or deployed out of the the main area of action for both the 1st Gulf war and the current War on Terrorism. Those who are on the ground in Iraq, Afghanistan and other areas we don't hear about are the ones who deserve your thoughts and prayers.
Transformer 05-29-2006, 09:46 AM THANK YOU !!!!!!!!! From the botom of my heart. Very well said Josh !! Yes, the great sacrificice (and sometimes ultimate sacrifice) have indeed made us the GREATEST country to claim OURS (and be proud of) on this planet!! T
ChicksDigEmToo 05-29-2006, 10:15 AM Well said Josh! A simple thank you to all past and present military and their families. There is not one thing about my life that the men and women in uniform did not directly or indirectly affect. From my right to vote to the freedom to voice my opinion in this wonderful country I call home. Thank you for giving me my wonderful life!
TallTexan 05-29-2006, 10:58 AM Over 40 years ago, an old Master Chief told me the reason for the red stripe at the top of the flag and also at the bottom. He said " sailor, that top stripe signifies the blood spent to form this country and the bottom stripe signifies the blood that will continue to be spent to insure the freedoms we enjoy today." I still get chill bumps when the flag is raised and that Anthom is played. I also remember friends who paid that ultimate price and have to fight back a few tears. Just my thoughts this morning.
Intimidator 05-29-2006, 07:09 PM My Dad taught me at a young age to thank a Vet when you see one. Don't wait until it is a holiday, honor them as you see them, shake their hand and say, "Thank your for your service, and helping to provide us with the freedoms that we enjoy everyday". My father served in WWII aboard the USS Colorado BB45
battleship from 1942 to 1945. He has since past, so I fly the U.S. flag everyday at my home to honor him. To all the Vets out there, I salute you with never ending gratitude, and that I and my family will never forget the sacrifices that you have endured so that we may have our freedoms and liberties everyday of our lives. THANK YOU!
shailey 05-29-2006, 08:38 PM One of the most touching things that I think that I ever encountered was the day that this war against terrorism started. I was on my way home that Sunday when it started and I was coming from St. Louis. On I-24 I stopped in Clarksville, TN which is slightly below Fort Campbell. I walked into a truck stop bathroom and there was a kid (no more than 18 or 19 years old) in there dressed in fatigues and he was leaning over the sink with tears in his eyes. He looked up in the mirror and our eyes met. I reached my hand out and said, "Thank you son for what you are about to have to go do, you will be in my prayers." He stepped back snapped to attention and saluted me. He then went at ease and reached his hand out and said, "Your prayers will be appreciated sir."
That image of a boy becoming a man that day, will never leave my mind.
WOODEEZY 05-29-2006, 10:25 PM Thanks M4ck and all for the kind words and prayers. I too have been serving for the past 17 years getting ready to deploy to the desert for this war on terrorism. For the majority of us in uniform, we don't ask for much; we don't ask for people to call us heroes, we don't look for recognition, nor do we look for handouts and discounts from retailers. We simply ask for for our safe return and safekeeping of our families and speedy end to this war on terrorism and the loss of life. Just keep us in your prayers, thanks!
Kopperking 05-29-2006, 11:05 PM It was My Pleasure to Serve (1st Gulf War).
(I just wish we could've Finished the Job, so that the Kids today wouldn't have to be over there now.)
Every Vet and/or Military member I meet, gets a Hand shake and a Respectful "Thank You" Regardless of what day it is.
Too bad I've got to Wait for the Next Titan meet to Thank our Members Properly.
God Bless America!
KrazyInKamo 05-30-2006, 02:23 AM Thanks to all the people that support us in foriegn countries, that stay the extra 3-6 months in a country we'd rather not be.. Very well said! After my 16 years, I totally agree with you "We simply ask for for our safe return and safekeeping of our families and speedy end to this war on terrorism and the loss of life."
And thanks to all the Men and Women that continue to serve this GREAT COUNTRY of ours!
Tx_Mojo 06-01-2006, 06:47 PM Thanks to you all for the support. Knowing we are supported makes our jobs easier. I am active duty in the United States Marine Corps, just completed my first four years and served in Iraq for 8 months in this enlistment. I re-enlisted for another four and am moving to cali this month. Thanks for your support and keep the great site up. I spent my weekend in D.C with a bunch of veterans and the Rolling Thunder ride. It was a memory i will keep for ever.
