: Changed her oil for the first time today...
docweedon 06-25-2006, 11:29 PM So at 1750 miles, I decided that was enough time for the break in oil and time for some Mobile1 5-30. Everything went smooth.
After reading about the horror stories with the oil filter, I took the advice of a member here on clubtitan and got a filter wrench for a Honda Goldwing motorcycle. The filter came off without even a fight!!
Just a tad over 6.5qts. Runs so smooth now. Thank all the members that contributed to the oil threads and giving me a heads up on doing my first oil change on my titan!
got_titan 06-25-2006, 11:36 PM great....i just had a battle with my k&n filter today! luckily it has the nut on the end...one new k&n filter and 7 quarts of german castrol 0w-30....purring like a kitten now!!!
electricjohn 06-26-2006, 10:51 AM A good choice on the miles (1750). I waited for 3750 miles to do my first oil change and have not gotten a good oil analysis yet. They are posted. 27000 miles now.
Crazy_Steve 06-26-2006, 11:00 AM ****....just over 9000 miles and still no oil change here...
I better snap on it!
nascarjody 06-26-2006, 11:09 AM Did I read that right. 9000 miles & NO oil change?
Crazy_Steve 06-26-2006, 11:11 AM uhhhh, yeah.
oops?
jp28la 06-26-2006, 11:13 AM who waits 9000?????wow.......
Crazy_Steve 06-26-2006, 11:15 AM I did?
Lol, still fast though!
I'm going to get some 10w-30 right now...
I've had my filter and washer for a while....just never got around to it...lol.
nascarjody 06-26-2006, 12:12 PM If you have an engine failure in the future & they find out about you running 9000 miles with out changing oil they can nix the warranty on the eng.
docweedon 06-26-2006, 01:48 PM 9000 miles on the break in oil?!!
Crazy_Steve 06-26-2006, 03:16 PM Lol yeah, I just got back inside from changing it...lol.
It was perrty dark.
nascarjody 06-26-2006, 03:19 PM Might want to change it a little sooner than recomended next time Or go with the extended life synthetic.
Crazy_Steve 06-26-2006, 03:21 PM Yeah, it just slipped away from me...lol.
p.s. my tires are bald too. (I'm just trying to push some more people's buttons...lol.)
docweedon 06-26-2006, 03:27 PM lol
The dealer didn't like the fact I changed my oil @ 1750. He told me "you should have waited till 3500miles. Thats what Nissan Recommends."
I told him it's better that I changed my oil at 1750 than at 8000 miles. He laughed and told me he sees that all the time.
Crazy_Steve 06-26-2006, 03:33 PM Well then I guess it's not that bad...lol.
Filled 'er up with Castrol Syntec 10w-30.
electricjohn 06-27-2006, 01:45 PM Break-in oil is a thing of the past. I think it went out with the oil can.
ttugrad95 06-27-2006, 05:23 PM Had mine changed at 1500, took advantage of the free change at the dealership. At 3000 I'll change again with syn.
nascarjody 06-27-2006, 05:42 PM Had mine changed at 1500, took advantage of the free change at the dealership. At 3000 I'll change again with syn.
I really hope you are talking about the rear diff oil? or the trans fluid?
If not I think you need to pull out the owners manual & read the maint. schedule.
sixt7ninr 07-01-2006, 10:37 PM just did my first one too. it was in for a clunking noise in the front end when settling to a stop, and turing right...(wound up being a combo of a bad sway-bar link and 2 loose body mounts) had 3600 miles so i got an oil change too.
¤·)» Kådåkëñpø «(·¤ 07-02-2006, 12:48 AM I paid for that 5 year service plan at the dealer so you know I'm in there every 1,500 miles! It's the only way to get what you over payed for the plan in the first place.
Slammer1 07-02-2006, 01:20 AM had 3850 on it the service rep I know over there, took a look at it for me ,
said it looked good, I asked about when i should do the tranny? Said not until
it hits 60,000 I find this a little hard to believe. I have a 88 chevy with over
300,000 on it and it got oil about evry 3000 and trans every 7-9000.
is this possible to go 60,000 that is pumb out of standard waranty time????
got_titan 07-02-2006, 01:45 AM i would change the pan fluid at 30,000 miles and do a full flush at 60,000 miles...if you tow heavy, pan at 20,000 miles and full flush at 40,000....thats jmo others may differ???
Slammer1 07-02-2006, 02:11 AM for the info
