: what is better for offroading 35" or 33" with leveling kit only?
:hi: I decided im going to go with the leveling kit...
My question now is what is better to have more ground clearance adding 35's ?(the truck gets like 1.5" of clearance from the ground right?)
or
To add 33" and have more room on the fenders to play with more flex?
:angst-big: sorry for the dumb questions but is some one can help out ill' apprecited...
NKTITAN711 06-30-2006, 03:24 PM I don't think it's a dumb question at all. We already have 33's (I do on mine anyways) from the factory. I have seen people with 35's on their PRG truck, but my dilema is the same as yours. You gain height with the 35's, but I don't like "stuffing" the wells too much. So I can see putting 33's to keep room and still have the space to play.
I look forward to what you people say... Decide for us. :D
titan4life 06-30-2006, 03:33 PM I also have the leveling kit and I decided to go with 33/12.5/17 nitto mud grapplers. I have plenty of clearance. I am going to wait for 35 until i get dr coilovers or a lift so I will have the proper clearance. It just depends on what u are going to be doing with them.
NKTITAN711 06-30-2006, 03:48 PM That thing has got a BITE to it!
kartmanaz 07-01-2006, 04:34 AM If it were me and I only leveled it and planned to really off road it I would go with 33s to avoid constant rub
thanks for the advice guys ...
i plan on keeping this truck for years to come i guess ill go with 33" and leveling kit for now and maybe after a couple of years ill get a 6" lift and 35" or 37" if possible with the correct wheels offset...

How oyou like those tires so far? I currently have the BFG MT 35x12.5r17 and plan on switching to the NItto MG or other MT...
titan4life 07-04-2006, 01:12 PM I really like these tires. They perform very well offroad. I just put them through all types of terrain this last weekend in Ocala National Forest in Florida and was very impressed. They also sound awesome on the road.
lanespd200 07-04-2006, 02:12 PM How much road noise do you get from the Nittos? I have ProComp 33s Mud Terrains......some noise but looking at something different after these (maybe). What did the Nits run you?
titan4life 07-04-2006, 03:48 PM I got the nittos for like 1150 mounted and balanced. They are not a quiet tire, but not extremely loud either. 33/12.5/17
lanespd200 07-04-2006, 05:19 PM sounds good titan4life, thanks for the info....I will look into it. :)
I have ProComp 33s Mud Terrains......http://www.clubtitan.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=12197&d=1152047991
:hi: your truck looks real good. is it just level with the 33"s
coops_titan 07-08-2006, 10:53 AM I have MT Baja Claws 33/12.50-17 . They are a really nice tire, aggressive tread and handle well on the road as well. I've had these tires for over a year
(15,000 miles) and wear great! I bought them @ National Tire and Wheel (Wheeling, Wv) for $892 mounted and balanced.
lanespd200 07-08-2006, 10:35 PM yes d0va, thats all I did........front leveling along with the 33's! Hey Coop...nice truck!
NKTITAN711 07-09-2006, 05:09 AM Very nice!
chasenme 07-09-2006, 06:00 AM If t was me I would go with the 35's you want as much height
as possible when offroading most of the time when you are offroad you are not driving that fast for your wheels to rubb you going slow to go over the rocks are what ever so imo you want the ground clearence

Depends on where you live. In my part of the country it's about streams, ravines and mud. We don't have any rocks but we do have trees so between the Ravines and limbs a lifted vehicle never goes very far. Also the mud here is clay so it weighs a ton, factor in the added weight of huge tires and wheels and I've seen that to be enough to get people stuck. Around here we like relatively narrow tires that self clean with ease. I had Thornbirds on my 72 Landcruiser and ended up going back to stock due to the clingy clay mud. My advice, go to where they are off roading and see what the hardcore people are running. (The ones with ugly older vehicles.)

:angst-big: sorry for the dumb questions but is some one can help out ill' apprecited...That extra 1.5" is split between each side of the axle, (ground side and top of truck side), so best case it would be a 3/4" lift.
But if you go measure the truck mounted tire it won't be the same diameter as it was - off of the truck anyway, because of the Titan's weight. The amount of squish varies between brands and even models within the same brand. My LT285/70/17 BFG All Terrains have less squish than my OEM BFG Rugged Trails did, in a P285/70/17 All-season.
[This is why when you do a before/after lift measurement, to compare with other forum members, you should measure from the center of the axle, up vertically to the fender edge, not from the ground].
I stayed with the 33" tire since I wanted to ensure no rubbing. The BFG AT isn't offered in the LT305/70/17 size, and the next size up is LT315/70/17. The 33" tire also makes the Titan look more lifted since the wheel-well is less full.

murphy7220 07-24-2006, 06:59 PM i love the 35 procomps a little noisy on the road but awsome off road
