: How much are you spending on gas????
CMC_OO 07-14-2006, 01:33 PM First off I want to say how much I enjoy being apart of this forum, I have spent hours reading about the Titan and have many mods in mind for when I get one. The only concern that I have is how much on average is everyone spending on gas and how many mile you drive each month. I know this may sound dumb but I want to know how much I have to give up to get one of these beasts. Frankly I dont really care if I have to eat bologna sandwiches everyday just to have one. Right now Im figuring about 300/month for gas, is this an accurate guess? I plan on driving about 1200 or so miles each month. Thanks in advance for the help.
Harley Edition Titan 07-14-2006, 01:37 PM your estimate is pretty good I run about 375 - 400 off a gas tank (city and highway) and I just filled up from "BELOW" the Empty line and I paid 68.00 @ $2.83 a gallon.
Has anyone else noticed that there is plently of gas left after it hits empty mark of the tank???
LNDBYR 07-14-2006, 01:56 PM dude you don't want to know what I spend, more than $300 in the last 2 weeks, but I drove over 800 miles in 3 days this week

.
..
.............not to mention work pays for 90% of the gas I burn
QShip 07-14-2006, 01:57 PM That sounds about right.
LDOTITAN 07-14-2006, 01:57 PM I'm paying 2.85-2.89. There are plenty of stations much higher, for reasons that still escape me. Each fill up from pertty near empty is in the low $60 range.
TitanFooseDesign 07-14-2006, 02:21 PM I dont really like to think about how much I spend on gas, actually I dont really care, but for this thread purpose I spend about $65 Avg. empty-->full. As for monthly I probably spend about $180-220 a month on gas.
Hazertmed 07-14-2006, 02:25 PM I fill up about 3 times a month on average. I get about 280 miles when my light comes on, usually around a 20-22 gallon fillup each time. I get about 13mpg depending on my driving habits.
mikepro 07-14-2006, 02:30 PM Paid 2.78 this morning from a quarter tank spent $52.00 ti fill up
XRING600 07-14-2006, 02:48 PM I leave my Titan parked in the garage and drive my S-15 during the week. Yes, its true, I drive a wimpy truck most of the time. I pull our horse trailer/atvs on the weekend and usually spend 200 per month on gas for the Titan.
Our total gas bill is probably over $400 per month.
The answer to this seems relatively simple: Divide your estimated miles / month by the average mpg of a Titan, multiplied by the cost of gas where you are.
But, the average mpg depends on how and where you drive and if you tow or not. If you like to 'put your foot in it' - you'll get a thrill, but it'll cost you: you may average only 13 - 14 mpg. If you drive it 'pretty' - keep the revs below 2000 at all times - you may get 17 - 19 (I achieved 19 in one measure).
So, just fill-in the blanks:
_______________ / _____________ x $_____.____ = $_____________
(miles / mo)..............(mpg)..................(cost/gal)..........(monthly cost)
:)
baseballfanz 07-14-2006, 03:15 PM As of now $68 avg. per fill up which last me one week or about 275 miles. Usually fill up about 22 gal.
RIDER 07-14-2006, 08:40 PM $55 per fill up when the light comes on
shailey 07-14-2006, 08:50 PM I drive between 3000 to 4000 miles a month. I average over $500 a month.
nascarjody 07-14-2006, 08:51 PM your estimate is pretty good I run about 375 - 400 off a gas tank (city and highway) and I just filled up from "BELOW" the Empty line and I paid 68.00 @ $2.83 a gallon.

I still dont know how you are getting that much out of a tank of gas. I will usuall get from 300 to 350 per tank. I just filled up today at 2.78 per gal it too 41.0 & I still had a half tank. right now since my step son is spending a month with his dad I only drive a mile to work & a mile home. about f to the gym & back. so I am saving money with the kiddo gone. food & gas.
when he comes back I will be driving about 200 miles every weekend to do th exchange of children. we have the youngest & he has th oldest. trade off every weekend. So I am not looking forward to the gas bill when school starts.
goval 07-14-2006, 09:58 PM I spend about $330.00 monthly, paying an average of $55.00 from between the empty line and the 1/4 line.
shailey 07-14-2006, 10:04 PM 375 to 400 (sometimes more if I am on the highway longer) is what I get.
CMC_OO 07-14-2006, 10:35 PM As expected you guys have answered my questions. I am just trying to figure out how much I need each month to keep a Titan. Fankly I dont really care what gas is going to cost I just want to know how many Bologna sandwiches im going to have to eat to save money for gas. Thanks again for all the help.
float_test 07-14-2006, 10:50 PM I dont fill her up anymore unless we're on a trip. I just throw $40 in when it gets down to 1/4 tank. Maybe 200 monthly at the most.
craig 07-14-2006, 11:00 PM Not in the Titan but on my bike I paid $4 a gallon today in Mendocino, Ca.
Last month in Bridgeport Ca. I paid $4.15 a gallon. What else can you say and be civil at the same time?
Craig
Intimidator 07-14-2006, 11:23 PM I usually pay $52 to $60 on a tank. I drive in town most often and that sucks, since mileage is around 12. I'll pay about $220-240 a month.
armena 07-14-2006, 11:44 PM yea mine is around 12 also. but i usually fill up around quarter tank, im not doing that this time. I am gonna drive till after the gas light comes on. i wanna see how many miles i can get to a tank. i knew what the gas was gonna be before i got the truck. Also, it looks like it has gotten better since i started driving it. I do all city driving which sucks, and there is alot of idiots around here that stop and go all the time, even when they have like 50 feet or more in front of them they are riding the brakes, drives me nuts. Anyway i had a 01 silverado with 5.3 v8 and was only getting about 11 so it is not a big deal.
TheSquid 07-15-2006, 12:18 AM I drive over 3000 miles a month. You do the math.
The only saving grace is I get 17 to 18 MPG.
Kubed 07-15-2006, 01:44 AM City driving is the bane of the titan. This last tank was all city and it was 12 mpg…. Ouch.
spody 07-15-2006, 02:07 AM I filled up yesterday from just under 1/4 tank , $ 86.00 . $1.06/litre .
That works out to around $4.80 / gallon .
I really don't understand what you guys are complaining about.
Your fuel (most of which is from Canada ) is CHEAP .
totallywirelessgps 07-15-2006, 02:24 AM Unfortunately, I spend between $1000 - $1500 a month in fuel. I drive about 5000 miles a month. Fill-ups normally cost $70 - $80 due to the price of gasoline in California being $3.30 in Southern California and $3.15 in Northern.
Here is the actual information reported from my engine computer from 6/14/2006 to 7/14/2006:
Average Miles per Gallon16.3 MPG
Miles Driven 3,758.0 miles
Fuel Consumed 230.2 gallons
NateL 07-15-2006, 02:31 AM I haven't put gas in my Titan since last october... So it's not costing me much in fuel right now.
spody 07-15-2006, 02:42 AM I haven't put gas in my Titan since last october... So it's not costing me much in fuel right now.
I guess that means your not getting maximum enjoyment from your truck .
NateL 07-15-2006, 02:51 AM I'm getting no enjoyment out of it. It's sitting in the garage. I think the wife takes it to home depot every once in a while.
I did get to drive it when I was home a few months back, so I guess I lied and I have put a couple tanks of gas in it this year.
Woodsman 07-15-2006, 06:10 AM I know the feeling totallywirelessgps. I just got my credit card statment in the mail for the past month and total gas for one month was a little over $1200 for somewhere around 4500-5000 miles, but I still would not trade the Titan for something with better milage.
VegasHD 07-15-2006, 11:24 AM My titan is a work horse and I driv eit ALOT. As of today I have had it one month. I average 10 MPG as I pull my boat ALOT. I have 4700 miles on the truck after only one month of ownerhsip. New to me? Nope.... I always drive around 60k a year. I usually divide up between a few cars though to make it last.
My mileage can vary tremendously. The exhaust note and the tach mostly dictate the amount of fuel. Driving 'nice', I once measured 19 mpg.
When I say 'driving nice', I mean: giving it just a little gas and not move your foot - letting the tranny do it's thing, shifting as early as it can - 1500 RPM and NEVER let the tach go over 1800 - 2000. (NOTE: 2000 RPM will take you over 70 mph in highest gear).
But, the fun of punching it is sometimes irrestible. But, it costs me about a 30% mpg penalty. An inconvenient truth.
