: 05 diff covers
COLORCHANGE 03-04-2005, 01:38 PM Hey fellow titan people this is jon from preston nissan in P.A.. As you guys have seen the new rear diff covers SHOULD be available march 9th. If they are im gonna do some checking and see if i can do the whole setup for around 100.00. But first i have to wait for a setup to come in and take it over to the ups place i know and get it all weighed up and see how much to ship to lets say cali( that is far enough lol ) and get the shipping costs. I dont think i will have a problem with it but just wana check first. Im just seeing if i will have a huge want for this or not you can email me at colorchange@gmail.com or jtreen@prestonbeaver.com (work mail) or just reply to this thread. So i guess ill find out lol. If this goes through ill warn you now i have only one person in the parts depot here and thats me so youll have to be patient with me lol Ill keep you up to date on this if any questions should arise let me know. :D

COLORCHANGE 03-04-2005, 04:54 PM I dont think there is gonna be a problem ( shipping)

SilverTitan 03-05-2005, 03:23 PM Count me in too! Thanks in advance for all your hard work getting this together for us!
smoothtitan 03-06-2005, 12:53 AM count me in also.
QWIKWHIP 03-06-2005, 10:22 AM count me in!!!!
Haha, triple post. Does that mean you want three? lol :)
strick9 03-06-2005, 02:31 PM $100 for the cover, bolts and any other needed knick-knacks? I'm interested too.
Rizzo 03-06-2005, 06:39 PM What does the finned cover do better than the regular diff cover on the '04? Is is supposed to make a big difference? If so, I'm in for the order as well.
So far all is well with the diff in my '04. Amsoil 75w70 Severe Service upgrade only. I've towed up to 7,000lbs so far with a 7,000 lb trip to Alaska slated for this summer.
tightun 03-06-2005, 09:12 PM I surely want one. Count me in! Hope someone is keeping a count. 8)
COLORCHANGE 03-07-2005, 07:50 AM Yeah im keeping count lol. I hope im going to have a setup here in a couple days they are due out march 9th so i should have it by the 10th or 11th i hope.
SilverTitan 03-07-2005, 08:59 AM ColorChange,
I might have missed this earlier, how would you like to be paid?
Do you take Paypal?
Also is there any problem with the fit between the spare tire and the new housing? We still have snow on the ground here and I haven't crawled under as of yet to see. Thanks again!
COLORCHANGE 03-07-2005, 03:36 PM Ok for paying i have a paypal but it has a limit and its not a business account(and also ive have never used paypal lol). The higher managment will not allow me to spend money to make money (thats why i cant do a sponsor on the site) I can do a c/c by phone or I can get ahold of bixxl and me and him can work somthing out. And for the fitment so far there are no issues concerning the tire and the cover
drmstlr66 03-07-2005, 07:55 PM I'm interested also, just let me know the details.
SilverTitan 03-07-2005, 08:03 PM ColorChange
Thanks! Credit Card over the phone sounds the easiest. Let us know. Thanks again.

Won't allow you to spend money to make money!? Isn't that the way the game is played???? :callme:
kytitan 03-07-2005, 08:58 PM What does the finned cover do better than the regular diff cover on the '04? Is is supposed to make a big difference? If so, I'm in for the order as well.
The 05 aluminum diff cover has a larger oil capacity and is finned to aid in cooling. :D
baja220 03-07-2005, 10:37 PM Count me in too!!! Thanks for the deal!!
yucaton_tom 03-07-2005, 10:50 PM Please add me to the list for one unit - ready to send CC# when you are ready.
Tom
COLORCHANGE 03-08-2005, 11:39 AM The whole deal with spend money to make money is a long story. I cant even get any bonuses right now it sucks lol. What ill do is me or the cashier here will call and get the numbers and ill send the slips in the boxes for you guys. I thought it would be the easiest that is how our service department does alot of things. I also tried to see if i could do check by phone but our check reader is not set up for that i guess. But so far looks like im up to about 11 on here so far keep em coming
QWIKWHIP 03-08-2005, 04:32 PM Sounds good but could you just verify what all is needed and included with this offer. I am being told by another dealer that longer screws are not needed as well as no other brackets and others are saying you need longer screws and there is a different brake line bracket needed. I'm confused now. :?
I'm interested also. Let me know what I have to do. :o
SMOKEDYA2 03-08-2005, 10:01 PM new brake line bracket is already on the cover, and the new bolts are 7/8's of an inch long. your old drain plug will work in the new cover, and there is no gasket with this you have to use RTV sealent in a tube.
QWIKWHIP 03-09-2005, 08:33 AM new brake line bracket is already on the cover, and the new bolts are 7/8's of an inch long. your old drain plug will work in the new cover, and there is no gasket with this you have to use RTV sealent in a tube.
See this is what I don't understand...
Please Note: This TITAN differential finned cover comes with the brake line holder tab, but not the $8 bracket that bolts down the E-brake cable . The E-brake bracket is not available at this time, so you will have to make your own bracket or cut the one off your old diff. cover
That was posted on that ebay auction for the cover with the screws. I also talked to a guy at performance Nissan and he said that he couldn't find a part listing for any longer screws or brackets??? He wasn't aware anything else was needed but he is looking into it. I just want to make sure I get everything needed before I tear my old cover off.

SilverTitan 03-09-2005, 09:02 AM I'm sure Color Change will know what we need. I'm not sure all the dealers even know that their is a difference between 04 and 05. I know when I take my Titan in I bring the TSB if possible with me and ask about the problem first and get the "deer in the headlight look 8O " until I break out the TSB.
So lesson learned, ClubTitan and TitanTalk members will find out even before some service depts! At least it's true with the dealer near me.
COLORCHANGE 03-09-2005, 02:53 PM Antother way we can find out for sure is bixll's cover should be in soon and he can put his on and them youll know for sure of what is needed. But as far as i know you need all 3 things.
ModlessG 03-09-2005, 03:17 PM Im interested also. Nissan just issued a service buletin to use only Nissan syn. 75 140 fluid from now on. I would just change the fluid with the new cover.
COLORCHANGE 03-10-2005, 08:20 AM Yes they did i just got some of it in. I also have a rear end laying in the shop that sounds like an air raid siren lol. So if i were you guys i would go and get it done.
SMOKEDYA2 03-10-2005, 06:17 PM qwikwhip,
here is the part # for the longer bolts 38321-8S10A
i ordered 12 of them right through nissan.
you can see the braket on top of my diff cover, and i was going to fab up my own parking brake hold down bracket.
COLORCHANGE 03-11-2005, 08:20 AM Well that would the monster

It looks like there is no fill plug there, did it come with????
HavockWK 03-11-2005, 03:50 PM It looks like there is no fill plug there, did it come with????
I believe you have to reuse your current plug.

Hehe! Well I guess you could paint the plug a nice dull grey color so it blends in!
SMOKEDYA2 03-12-2005, 07:51 PM either paint it or get a new one from nissan for 6 bucks. i think i'll just paint mine
COLORCHANGE 03-14-2005, 07:55 AM Just to let all of you know I am still waiting on the covers i oredered to come in. Just wanted to let you all know.

Thanks for the update. :)
COLORCHANGE 03-15-2005, 09:57 AM Lol np im trying to get these things as soon as possible. Nissan's ordering sucks for time lol
COLORCHANGE 03-18-2005, 03:13 PM Ok people new update. Nissan told me im #29 out of 60 to recieve my order of these. They told me march 28 is the first shipment and the second will be apr. 4. Just a update for you guys. Ill keep you all informed.

baja220 03-18-2005, 03:39 PM Cool, towing seasons coming and I have my gear oil ready. :)
Oh man...I need to get some too so I'll be ready when they come in. Was it ever decided what exactly will be coming with the cover so we can have everything ready?

well lets see here, you'll get the parking brake line holder on the cover, you can buy an aluminum fill plug or use the existing steel one, you'll need longer bolts that are 7/8" long, roughly 2 1/2 qts of gear oil, one tube of RTV silicone gasket maker in a tube, and there is a left side brake bracket that either needs to be bought or fabbed up to hold down the brake line. i know there is a thread on here some where about how to make the last bracket that i mentioned, i will find it and post the link.
that should be it
SMOKEDYA2 03-18-2005, 06:04 PM found that link

SilverTitan 03-18-2005, 07:07 PM Thanks for the updates!
ColorChange, do we have a final price on the whole package? Thanks again for arranging this for all of us involed.

He is hoping to be able to do it for $100.00 shipped. He has to wait to get 1 in to check wait and ship rates before he can commit to that price though.
SilverTitan 03-18-2005, 07:58 PM BiXLL
Thanks! I was wondering if that was still the plan.
COLORCHANGE 03-22-2005, 07:56 AM Yeah that is what i have planned. Sorry have not been on in a few its been busy as hell around here (i have 2 dodge techs and 2 nissan techs = PIA) Its been a true pain lol but ill keep you all posted on it.

When you get the chance, could you please ask your Nissan Techs what they think the purpose of the half-screen on the throttle body gasket is for and if removing the screen could cause any short or long range problems?
Many thanks,

They are the techs that do my work. I all ready asked, they did not have an answer for me.
COLORCHANGE 03-23-2005, 08:27 AM The one tech i have thought about it. He thinks its a atomizer of some sort.
JetTech 03-23-2005, 08:51 AM The one tech i have thought about it. He thinks its a atomizer of some sort.
You might want to let your tech know that only air passes by it, not fuel, of which needs to be atomized... :noway:

Somebody has gotta know! But thanks for trying.
Jettech and I both scoured our sources back when he originally did the mod, and we both came up empty.
COLORCHANGE 03-23-2005, 04:32 PM Alrigty people here is what a master senior tech that went to nissan titan school said that screen is for. They went over this part in there class. It IS for air turbulance it creates like mini tornados which in turn atomizes the fuel better in the plenuim. This is comming straight from his mouth which came from the nissan teachers in there schools that they go to to get there master cert. So if any other comments get made about this part the nissan teachers are wrong then which kinda hard lol 8)
COLORCHANGE 03-23-2005, 04:34 PM BTW the master has just left the building :D
SMOKEDYA2 03-23-2005, 06:25 PM swirling effect.... i gues you can take it out then if you have the TB spacer, it does the same thing.

Man I really hate to add to this but I do want to make sure people know exactly what really happens with this system. Technically there is no fuel in the plenum. Atomization occurs when the injectors spray the fuel behind the intake valve, (yes the injectors are attached to the plenum runners but directly above the intake valve), by spraying the fuel it is in turn "atomized with air" and that's where the actual "mixing" of fuel and air occurs, not in the plenum. The plenum is nothing more then a storage area for air that is drawn in by the intake process.
As far as the screen goes I can accept the turbulence theory. Sounds logical to me and has been discussed before.

yea couldnt resist
strick9 03-23-2005, 09:26 PM Well based on that information it would seem logical to remove the screen and let the Throttle Body Spacer do its thing. I also can't see any harm coming from removing it either then.
JetTech strikes again.
COLORCHANGE 03-24-2005, 02:14 PM Ok time fo ra update on the covers that are ordered now. This is when nissan says they will be in my hands and then I will start the shipping of them and getting ahold of the people that ordered them. Then i will be able to know for sure about the 100.00 shipped deal.

Cool, sounds good. Now how do I get on the official order list?
COLORCHANGE 03-25-2005, 11:21 AM Those are the people that said they dont care about the price. So if you dont then ill order a set up for you. My prob now is im almost positve that i can do the 100.00 shipped deal i just wana double check first. If all else fails they will be 5 or 10 bucks more. The people i orderd for already said just order no matter the cost lol.
SilverTitan 03-26-2005, 07:33 AM ColorChange,
I should be on the list but could check and let me know if you have me listed for the first order, thanks. Also when we pay are we calling you with the Credit Card info?
COLORCHANGE 03-28-2005, 09:57 AM Yeah it would be the safe way. You will either talk to me or the cashier ill prolly let her do it since she knows how to work the c/c machene I dont do it so it takes me a couple mins to get it right lol
SilverTitan 03-28-2005, 04:51 PM Cool!
Thanks
SilverTitan 04-04-2005, 05:57 AM Any news???
Just wondering if everything is still a go!
Or has everyone moved on to the new larger after market Diff? I'm sticking with the Nissan Diff myself.
COLORCHANGE 04-04-2005, 01:29 PM Im just waiting for my first shipment to come still.
They took it off my backorder list so it should be here very soon :)
yucaton_tom 04-12-2005, 10:41 AM Hello,
Just wanted to make sure you still have me on the list of early orders. It sounds like the long wait is almost over! I am just waiting to hear from you to send payment via credit card.
Thanks,
Tom
COLORCHANGE 04-13-2005, 03:48 PM Ok people i have the covers now bixxl is commin in saturday so i can make sure it is all here. Then i should have enough time to get to the local ups station to see if the whole deal is a go. But for now i have 5 of the covers in which means fo rnow im 2 two short. I should have all the info for you guys and girls in teh next day or 2.
bopimo 04-15-2005, 02:16 PM Add me to your list...
jaysplaypen 04-15-2005, 06:59 PM I have a question. Why would I need this. Is the factory cover not made well to keep the diff. cool. and if so why would i have to buy this would there be a tsb about them fixing it.
Sorry I think I missed something here.
strick9 04-15-2005, 10:38 PM I have a question. Why would I need this. Is the factory cover not made well to keep the diff. cool. and if so why would i have to buy this would there be a tsb about them fixing it.
Sorry I think I missed something here.
You have an 05 and probably have the aluminum differential cover with the cooling fins and heavy weight synthetic gear oil.
The 04's had a tendency to overheat with the non-synthetic lighter weight gear oil and the old rusty metal gear cover so.......
people with the 04's are trying to replace the differential cover with the 05.
Sorry guys. I am kind of getting into this conversation very late, but what is included in buy the rear differential cover from Colorchange? I thought I read that it does not include the 12 longer bolts (P/N 38321-8S10A) or the left side brake bracket. Is that correct? Also, what was the final price? What is the advantage of getting this cover from colorchange vs. the dealership where I bought my truck? Is the left side brake braket available from Nissan or will I have to fabricate it myself?
It includes the bolts and bracket, everything you need.
SilverTitan 05-08-2005, 10:10 AM Is this a dead issue???
Just wondering what the plan is. Anyone know what the latest is on the ordering? :?:
mine has been on for weeks with no problems. PM COLORCHANGE if you want to order.
I wound up ordering mine though my dealership. They stated they would match colorchange's price. (Cover, Bolts, & bracket).
SilverTitan 05-09-2005, 01:29 PM Thanks for the info!
My bad, I thought Colorchange was going to PM us who were on the list to order when he was ready to ship out. My misunderstanding!
I might just check with my dealer also. I'm waiting for the new brakes that the dealer has ordered for me. I might as well order the Rear End parts and have them put it on when I bring my Titan in.
COLORCHANGE 05-13-2005, 01:20 PM The only hold up for the ones i have is the stupid bolts lol. The brackets were backorderd then the bracketes came in and they backorderd the bolts. But im still doing it if anybody wants one let me know. Ill do my best to help all of you guys and girls of course out
COLORCHANGE 05-13-2005, 01:40 PM There is nothing set in stone that you guys and girls have to buy these off of me. Im just being nice lol. If your dealership will match the price no hard feelings from me. But if they wont let me know.
Trogdor 05-13-2005, 02:17 PM What is the price?
baja220 05-13-2005, 04:39 PM What is the price?
It's $100.00 shipped for cover, bracket and bolts.
yucaton_tom 05-14-2005, 12:00 AM For any Houston owners, Mossy Nissan on Katy Frwy. will put together the same deal - ask for Thomas.
He sold me the front air dam (with screws) for thirty dollars. Listed for Armada, but fits Titan perfectly and takes 30 minutes to install.
COLORCHANGE 05-26-2005, 02:56 PM Ok the ball should be rolling good now. Whoever wants one email me @ jtreen@prestonbeaver.com with your info and your order will be placed
Finally got my new differential cover installed. The bracket was back ordered forever. My Nissan dealer did the work and put in the new synthetic differential fluid. I should be good to go. Thanks for all the info you provided colorchange.
COLORCHANGE 07-08-2005, 11:45 AM Sorry I have no posted in awhile been busy as hell. Thats no problem about the info. If you guys need any type of info email me or send me a message. I have books, computers , and master techs at my disposal that can answer just about anything.
hernan28 08-28-2005, 12:38 AM Colorchange - I'm interested in getting the 05 diff cover, but I assume that you are not selling them at the $100.00 anymore. Just curious.
Thanks,
Tom
whodatitan808 08-31-2005, 01:49 AM Wow this is an oldie but goodie thread
I got my 05 rear diff done at the dealership....the oil cost just as much as the cover
not to mention the labor cost.....ouch
but i got a pretty good discount
