Could it be? Cummins teaming up with Nissan to make a Diesel Nissan Titan.
"Truck engine maker Cummins said this week that it signed a partnership with a major unnamed car manufacturer to produce light-duty diesel engines for pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles."

JERDOG 07-29-2006, 05:38 AM Sounds interesting, would be worth checking out. However, I fear that Nissan will still make the ecm a tough nut to crack.
Kubed 07-29-2006, 05:42 AM Well this will be sweet if it’s true
Here it is at Cummins website. http://www.cummins.com/cmi/content.jsp?siteId=1&langId=1033&dataId=1092&newsInfo=true&menuId=4

float_test 07-29-2006, 07:25 AM It sure would be a wise move on Nissan's part IMO.
BiXLL 07-29-2006, 07:46 AM With all the partnership talks with GM, I would think Duramax would be more like it??? A Cummins would be sweet though!
scr38 07-29-2006, 08:23 AM I hope it will be the Duramax (Isuzu) engine. I think it is a very good engine.
Jaho1979 07-29-2006, 09:19 AM I like the fact that the Cummins is a big 6 rather than a V8. The sound compared the Duramax and Powerstroke is much better too, IMO, it sounds like a mini semi.
Rossi 07-29-2006, 09:55 AM I think I have heard that Cummins is parting ways with Dodge....BUT....aren't they now in someway part of Ford...so I would think Ford would use them.
I may have my wires crossed here though...but I would swear they have something to do with Ford now.
BiXLL 07-29-2006, 09:58 AM They are going to bring the deisel out, then Rossi is going to have to tell his wife he needs a different Titan again!!!!!!! LOL, I can't wait!!!http://home.comcast.net/~billsxll/wsb/media/213368/site1033.gif
Kingoftheroad 07-29-2006, 10:34 AM A Cummins Titan would be great! A Cummins would be my first choice over Duramax & Powerstroke.
Rossi 07-29-2006, 11:16 AM No....not me...I HATE the way the motors sound!!!!! I like the sound of a Gas V8 much better.
Now if I needed to towing capability of a diesel motor...then I'd have too....but I don't need it and again...I HATE the way they sound.
Poppa_Titan 07-29-2006, 05:33 PM If this is true then I will finally get to fit in with all the rednecks in my hometown that have a "Cummin not Strokin'" sticker on the bumper!
This should be right around the time it is time to get a new truck!
I'm Pumped!
spody 07-30-2006, 02:50 AM Having owned all three deisel's in past 6 years , I personally would love to see a Titan w/ Cummins . The inline 6 is compact , light and has significantly less moving parts than the duramax and powerstroke .
The Cummins has lots of hp and torque , and it can handle loads more power in stock form . Plus it gets great fuel economy .
colossaltitan 07-30-2006, 03:55 AM OH MY GOSH NO IT CAN"T BE TRUE... BUT IT IS :) DOES IT ACTUALLY SAY THAT *reads* Nissan might be..... O MY GOSH CUMMINS MY PANTS JUST GOT HEAVIER
RedTitanLE 07-30-2006, 09:20 AM omgwtfyay I need to start sending extra payments to principal and selling blood so I can buy one in '09 and give Little Red a little brother :D :D :D
solo-baric 07-31-2006, 12:14 AM i was hopeing that nissan would have a cat engine in it. but i can dream can't i? Well whatever engine they put in their HD truck i'll wait for three or four years to get it. Just look what they did from 04-06 with the titan we have now? But time will tell. It's a good path for nissan.
JERDOG 08-18-2006, 07:33 AM Not shure if this is old news but, in the Oct. ed of Four Wheeler, page 14. "Heavy-Duty Titan Confirmed". Nissan has green-lighted the H-D Titan. Believed to be offered in gas and diesel versions. The new Titan should be out in 09 or 10.
goval 08-18-2006, 08:38 AM 09 or 10.
Yep, that's when I finish paying off my Titan, guess I'll be getting a Diesel in 2010.
PenguinLE 08-18-2006, 09:06 AM "Listen Ford, it's been a long run. You've been pretty good to me and I've received tons of compliments... However, your big brother is just way too overpriced and this 'lil Nissan is now diesel. Sorry bud, you're going to have to go..."
spody 08-19-2006, 12:42 AM That is sweet . My lease is done '09 , Perfect timing . Hopefully Cummins will be the supplier .
:)
There is still nothing definate. It will be nice to find out something soon. I bet they keep us in the dark up to at least a year before.
If anyone has any inside info let us know.

chrisfuji 01-16-2007, 12:22 AM a diesel sounds sweet either way. i do like the cummins too
Simboss 01-16-2007, 06:49 AM anybody know how long the cummins inline6 is? It has to be longer than the V8 indurance. the pistons from what I hear are huge. Will our Titans need a reverse nose job? just thinking out loud.
A2GSX 01-16-2007, 08:16 AM The word on the street from Novi (Nissan's tech center) is that Nissan has been testing several Diesels for the upcoming HD trucks. The list I have heard includes the following: John Deere, Cummins, Powerstroke, CAT. This is not a comprehensive list, just some names that came in passing talking to an employee from over there. Unfortunately to me I was told a few months ago (September-ish) that power stroke was the leader in the pack at that time but no final decisions had been made. They were considering many factors including weight, power, cost, economy, ect. I also know testing is getting more and more all the time, I would guess by now the decision is all but made, just wish I knew who.
An interesting tidbit: I was told the John Deere was by far the most powerfull truck he had ever driven, however the weight of the engine was so much it was almost out of the hunt before it even started. To bad.
Just my .02, Cummins gets my vote. I'll be far more likely to have a Diesel Titan if it's got an in-line motor.
Oh yeah, I'm sure cummins considers that their parternship with DCX is already on borrowed time. Diamler has threatened to put Mercedes diesel into Ram's for many years. At those times I think Cummins was forced to make concessions to keep their contract. This could all make big changes to the Diesel truck market aside from just the obvious.
titaning 01-16-2007, 09:47 AM I will be buying me a diesel titan as soon as it hits the markets, no question. i cant imagine a 3/4 ton Titan with a diesel motor in it!! that thing would be unstoppable!!
and it better be set up with a turbo as big as a freaken jet engine!
gerry 01-16-2007, 11:15 AM I was hoping caterpilar would partner up with nissan for the nissan diesel truck. I think cat would be better because cat puts some good tq at low rpm unlike cummins it has to be at a higher rpm for descent tq
PhotogKC 01-16-2007, 11:35 AM omgwtfyay I need to start sending extra payments to principal and selling blood so I can buy one in '09 and give Little Red a little brother :D :D :D
I'm with ya there sister!
IMMORTAL550 01-16-2007, 12:37 PM they'll be easyer to get power out of too. upgrade turbos, programmers, ive seen a ram turbo desel run a 12.7 on the qurter. awsome. ima trade mine in as soon as they're released.
MDJamesD 01-16-2007, 03:07 PM the only drawback about a diesel in a Titan would be the same problem we have now.....The Titan ECU has so many more parameters than the big 3, it would take a long time to be able to get someone to break the codes and reprogram
DevilDawg 01-16-2007, 03:53 PM ^^^ Uh Not Really. The superb people at UpRev already know all they need to about our current situation. Turbos would be bountiful and Banks would finally come off his dead arse and hook us up.
Bring on the Deisel....
