I'm not sure if this really qualifies as exterior mods, but since its on the outside of the truck I guess so. This past weekend, I painted the engine cover to match the truck, that wonderful silver color. However, since I have the XE I wasn't pleased with the silver front, except the grille and fog light covers. So, I painted those with the same color, added a clear coat, and I have to say, I think it looks much better. I'll try and get some better pictures this weekend, since the ones I took last weekend didn't turn out. Only cost about $10 for both cans of paint.

What brand paint did you use? Also, isn't the the grill on your truck already silver?

I think he means the black plastic mesh parts of the grill.

I used the engine enamel spray paint from Auto Zone. And yes, the down pieces are silver, but the black criss-cross pattern was black. Also, does anyone know the easiest way to remove that little rectangle below the grille where the license plate mounts? If there is an easy way, it looked to me like the bumper was all one piece.

WOW! :D That look's great. I would have never thought that painting the mesh of the grill would look that good! Good Job. :)

Looks very nice! I need to find some cheap deepwater blue paint some where and fo after my grill. I have the chrome and fog lights, but this might add just a special touch.

Anybody know where I can find some cheap deep water blue spray paint?

I got my paint at Auto Zone, along with the clear coat. They had a couple different brands, so you might be able to find something there.

You can also get it here http://www.paintscratch.com/ It's not the cheapest, but it's exact. :)

If I can do it, I'm sure you can. All I did, was remove the cover. Tape over the Nissan logo and the V8 5.6, so you don't paint those, then use the bolt holes to hang it and spray it. Just make sure to take it slow so the paint doesn't run. Also, another tip, make sure to get high temp paint, since this will be in the engine compartment. :headbanger:

You did a great job on that. Simple but beautiful. I have the silver also and you got me thinking about it now  ....maybe after I debadge, or maybe just debadge and spray over the front emblem. :D

Get something for the lower hole and paint that too???????? (It's the only thing that's not silver 8) )

Just saw this - very nice looking! Cheap and fairly easy mod (just the way I like 'em!).

When you initially described what you did, I thought "O my god, why would he do that"? After seeing the results, you did a fine job, and it looks GREAT!

I took it through the wash this weekend and was a little concerned with my painting skills. But, it came out just fine, no flaking or anything like that. I'm thinking of doing the same thing to the outside of the door handles, not sure though. Would rather paint them silver than order chrome ones. Any ideas on that?

Now it's coming down to taste.

Mine is black or blacked out, no chrome. I think you'd get a very unique look if you painted them silver :D . I also like the black on silver, but that's not a mod :D
