: Subs Under the seat
drmstlr66 03-09-2005, 01:39 PM Finally, I got a picture of my subs. They are 2 MTX 12's that fit perfectly under the back seat. I put the grilles on, just to prevent any cone damage from hitting the seat, and of course rowdy passengers. When the seats are put down you can only see the boxes from the side.
kytitan 03-09-2005, 04:10 PM Very nice. How is the sound? :D
m95roadster 03-10-2005, 04:09 AM Good job! Looks like a tight squeeze. Do the subs hit the seat bottoms? I'm currently working on mine, but I'll be using 8's.
xsive11 03-10-2005, 08:50 AM Nice set up! I got a 10" Q logic box from circuit city for $40 and it still sticks out about an inch in the front and has about 3/4" of room between the grill and seat bottom. Im surprised you gor 12's under there. Nevermind, I just went back and looked at the pic again and saw you have a CC. I have a KC. How did you mount the boxes and are ther removable if needed??
does anyone know of any mounts that you could use that you can still remove just the box temporarily? I do a lot of camping and need the space sometimes.
drmstlr66 03-10-2005, 09:51 AM The sound is great, with them being under the seat it muffles the mid-range sound, but allows all the low end bass to come through. With the grilles on the bottom of the seat has a slight waffle look, but better that then punctured cones. They are fully removable, the box just sits on the floor under the seat, if I need to take them out, I just remove the speaker cable and relocate the speakers. I'll try and take some more pictures with the seats down and from lower angles so you can see better how they fit.
SMOKEDYA2 03-10-2005, 06:04 PM looks good man, i wish i could fit 12's under my KC :(
drmstlr66 03-11-2005, 09:45 AM You might be able to. The Dodge I had before my Titan was an extended cab, and they fit under there. They stuck out a little, but fit. It depends on the mounting depth of your subs and the boxes you get.

i already had some custom boxes made for my Polk Audio 10's. its still a tight fit and the box is about 1/2 inch sticking out in front of the seat. the problem i have is that there is limited air space in the box's for a really deap hit like a bandpass box would produce :( . the subs i have call for .74 cub.ft. of air space and my box's are .64 a piece. there a little undersized but they still thump :D

You might try a little polyfill in your box, if you don't have it in there already. :D
XE4x4 03-11-2005, 06:15 PM Hey, nice sub setup... Sadly I had the same exact setup... well maybe my box stuck out an inch or 2 more, and sadly both subs were stolen out of the truck... I have an XE with no alarm (yet).. Luckily the amp was under the seat and velcrod down so thay was not taken. I now have the amp bolted behind the rear seat (you need to take the seat out to remove it) and 2 8" polk subs under the front seats in custom wooden enclosures... plenty of room for the 8s to breathe and it takes advantage of the space under the seats left from the lack of the R/F sound system. I can now use all the room under the rears for storage. Just thought Id share.. (Ive since moved to a better area of town too as this wasnt my first car theft  )

sorry to hear about your subs gettin ripped off :(
what is the dimensions of your 8" boxs under the seat? did you remove the front seats to get the boxs under there? pics?
XE4x4 03-12-2005, 10:01 PM the size of the 8" sub boxes are actually tuned to the 8" boxes, but its different for whatever make of sub you choose. I dont believe it would work with a 10" as the dimensions (that i dont remember off hand) were the smallest ones possible for 8s. I did not take pics when putting it together, but by taking the seats out sometime maybe I can take some if you want to see how it looks. And yes you have to take the seats out to get to the subs. They dont interfere with anything including backseat legroom and they have carpet on them matched pretty close to the interior of the truck.

I live in a good area and still had a bad luck as well 3x. Check the picture! The sub idea is good!

Bob did they do all 4 tires man. that really sucks. If we caught someone around here doing crap like that they would get a real beat down. Around here you don't mess with a mans woman or his truck either one is likely to get you killed. Time for you guys to move looks like to me. There is pleanty of room out here in SC. the more Titans the better.

Yeah, all 4 and the dealer didn't have any in stock. I waited for two days and when I left the dealership, one of them got flat right away. Since then I had to come back two more times to get it right. And yes, I am moving finaly by the end of this month!
SMOKEDYA2 03-13-2005, 02:39 PM oh BOB that sucks so bad, im sorry for you :(
XE4x4, what are the actual dimensions of your boxes though(W x H x D)? or can you not measure them?
kytitan 03-13-2005, 04:52 PM :nono: Omg thats just not right, so sorry Bob.
headbanger2g 03-31-2005, 10:40 PM JL Audio makes a stealth fiberglass box for their subs that goes under the seats.. 2 10's or 12's(w6v2's).. my homeboy has got a pair of 10's and they sound really good.. oh u have to face them down for the speakers to good.. no muffled sound very solid hittin' bass..
