Hey just a little tid bit........unless I am the last to know! If you have the old differential covers (2004) and you want it changed out. Take it back to the dealership (if it is still under warranty) and request it to be changed. I am taking mine in this morning and getting it done. Although, I did see a small leak....so heads up guys with the old ones, watch out for the leaks. Just a little FYI.
Be safe out there!

Based on what, leakage, overtemp? Or is it a TSB? I know some guys have done it, but I thought they bought the cover or worked a deal with the service guys.

Some dealerships will just change it others won't. I'm just going to get this since I've decided to keep this truck for a few more years.

If you loosen a few bolts, let some oil out , then retighten; is it a warrentee leak?

There was actually a recall on it but, I don't know if it covered all years.

I don't think there has been a recall on the cover. Most dealers will replace them only if there is a leak.

I still have the old cover. No leaks and also no paint peel from the heat. Seems to be working pretty well for me.

I have the new cover, I bought it and the dealership installed it no charge under my warranty.
Edit... The new cover is finned for better cooling, so if you can get it done it's a good idea...even if you think you don't need it.
Just my opinion.

I got the differential replaced from the old rusty looking one. I don't have the old picture anymore but here is the new one. Anything free is a good thing :)
Be safe all!
