: Washing w/ a Pressure Washer

Okay, so I'm a little leary of this, but I figured I'd throw it out to you guys and gals.

So a few weeks ago I bought a sweet pressure washer (okay, so it's really nothing too fancy). It's 2600 psi and I have used it to clean my deck (eventually the patio and possibly the cedar ciding - maybe).

I was wondering if this is too much for washing the truck with. Obviously I wouldn't use the focused spray. After all, it gouged a nice little rut in my deck when I was playing around with it.

So, for those of you who have pressure washers, do you use it to hose down the Titan?

Like I said...I'm a little leary at this point.

Thanks....

You should be fine with a medium to light duty tip.

What ^ said. I use the Turtle wax car and boat soap and the tip the manual calls out for car use. If you've used the ones at the car Wash it's pretty easy to figure out what nozzel to use. It if makes you bleed it's not the right tip. HAHAHA, really.

I use mine when I feel like hauling it out and ticking off the neighbors (its gas and loud). As others said, just use the light duty tip, be careful and use common sense. I find it more useful to apply soap and do the wheels than anything.

Yes. I do mobile detailing on the side and I use a pressure washer. Just use the lighest duty tip you have and you'll be fine. Plus, it will really help with the wheels and wheel wells.

I used to work for Northern Tools and we sold A LOT of PW. The rated PSI is only from the tip to about 4 inches out. Past 4 inches the psi will drop progressivly. So don't get the tip too close to the truck and you should be fine. I have a 3500 PSI CAT pump w/ honda OHV - that thing will peel paintoff a house. Personally i do not like the way a PW cleans. It is great to get mud and a big dirty job done quick but around here in Florida we mostly have limerock and the dirt is a fine whiteish dirt that thePW doesn't clean well. I like to use a nice little honduran guy that has a team at a gas station - 20 bucks and the whole truck is cleaned spotless and he puts that new car smell perfume in it. Well worth it IMO.

Nice acquisition. The power washer is ideal for the quick wash or to remove offroading muck and far less abrasive than a cloth wash over a dirty surface. Just don't hold the nozzle too close especially on plastic parts on the truck and don't keep the spray on one spot for too long. I also use the PW for a prewash before the cloth hand-wash.

I usually drag out my Karcher on sunday morning ,when the neighbor is getting ready for church . He gets angry cause I am working and making noise on this day for some reason ;) .LoL We don't agree on most things .
Anyway , my PW is not as powerful as yours and I have seen undercoating fly off and paint ( rock chip etc...) so be cautious .
My PW gulps the soap so I don't use any . Spray w/ PW ,hand wash w/ auto soap in bucket and detail cloths or good quality sponge . Then rinse w/ PW . Then if I am energetic or have time to kill (ya right) I will wax w/Eagle One nanowax (good stuff) . Usually 3 hours .
Time to hit the trails . Do it again next weekend .

I use a Karcher also with the adjustable nozzle. I got it as a present a year or so ago and use it on the vehicles without a problem. It is great for our rocking chairs on our front porch and our deck/deck furniture, retaining walls etc..

PW's are OK. Just keep the nozzle far enough away from the finish and spray at an angle. I always keep the distance far enough so that the spray won't hurt your hand, if held in front of it.

Also, PW's save a surprising amount of water over a regular hose.
