Has anyone looked into the specs behind using an after market performance cat vs. a OEM cat? I knowthe back pressure is reduced to oer %50. I had the cat completely removed from my 97 Ram 1500 and it helped fuel mileage a lot as well as greatly increased the HP!! I am just afraid to do that on this new Titan. I atleast thought about the Perf. Cat.
Any ideas let me know

You will a problem doing this. The primary cats are welded to the manifolds.

What is the standard exhaust pipe size on the Titans?
I have read that it is better to stay between 2.5" & 3". If I were to have the new CAT professionally done do you think it may hinder my performance or help?

Well from my own personal cat experience I would say do not delete the 2 that are hooked to the stock exhaust manifolds because it will kill your torque. But if you're going to install headers then I would say it wouldn't be a bad idea to have a couple of high flow cats welded on them. You'll need 2.5" inlets and outlets for a nice smooth flow to an aftermarket exhaust system.

I'll have to agree with Jettech, in my experience(not with the titan) unless you are building an all out HIGH rpm race motor, newer cats really don't restrict flow enough to worry about getting rid of them. Sure when they first started putting cats on vehicles they sucked up a lot of the engines power, but technology has come a long way.

Thanks to the both of you!! I am not even willing to make heavy mods to my truck unless the opinion is for the changes.

Thanks again guys!
