I have an '04 LE with the RF system. I know that the sound quality is not the best, but it is worse on the tuner. I get bass and treble when I listen to CD's, but when I listen to the tuner there are no highs and no lows...sounds like Bose. lol

Is this normal for this radio, or is there something wrong with mine?

There is a TSB for the 04 radios, go in and have it replaced! Tell them of fade in/out issues as well as base problems.

I guess I haven't noticed the fade in fade out problem. Is that the radio signal fading or the volume?

The Radio was "designed" to 'hold' the Radio reception. BUT by doing that, it switches from Stereo to mono Automatically, thus dropping sound Quality (Good Idea, Bad Design)

The Replacement is almost Day/night difference, your CD's will Still sound better, but when you listen to the Radio it won't "Fade in/out" the Reception.

My problem is exactly like yours. I haven't noticed the fading problem, but the reception is terrible. I don't know if that qualifies for the TSB fix.

reception was my main problem also, but the TSB is worded for fading problem. Sooooo, that is what I complained about to the service rep, he never even checked it out, just orderd a new radio. All the difference in the world with the new one! The old one got absolutly no AM stations at all, and bad FM, the new one is great!

I haven't had any reception problems.

It is the frequency response of the tuner that is the problem. I don't get the bass response or treble response that I get from the CD player. No Highs, No Lows!

I guess I will take it in and get it replaced to see what happens. Its only temporary until I get my McIntosh system anyway.

So, can I just call them and have them order it, or do I have to go in?

Just re-read your post...maybe my radio tuner is in mono mode all the time...that's why it sounds like crap.

And the CD playback sounded better too? I will definetly have to get it replaced. I thought the TSB was just about the radio reception.

Thanks

Unfortuneately, they have to tear your dash apart, remove the radio, write down the date code, then put it back together, order, wait three weeks, take it back, they tear the dash apart, etc, etc, etc.

I Did notice a Big difference though.

The Oxymoron I've Always Enjoyed:
The R/F sound system was Designed by Rockford Fosgate, Manufactured by Clarion, and Distributed by Panasonic?

Funny, Eh?!

Sean,

So according to this TSB everyone who has an 04 made before June 04 needs to take their Titan in to have the Stereo replaced?

*Will have to check the radio to see if I have that problem.*

Not Really.
A factory Recall - YES.
A TSB, is a "Warrantied" repair, IF the owner "Complains" about it.

Originally, I THOUGHT, it was just Bad Reception where I lived (about 30 miles N/E of Dallas/Ft.Worth), but the Reception was Lousy EVERYWHERE.

If, you notice, when the sound quality diminishes, that the radio is switching from Stereo to mono to Stereo - You've got a Faulty unit.
If you've got the problem After the Serial Date Code, you've got a Bad Antenna.
