:thumbsdown-big:
As you can see by my name, I was shopping for a Titan. I had specific requirements (Galaxy, 4x4, CC, LE, TOW), but any other options were welcome, so I scoured all of CA for the right truck.
I see they have a loaded 04 on their website. The description is generic (power this, power that, tilt, CD, etc.), so I call to get a breakdown on the vehicle.

I talk with John Miller, and he indicates that the vehicle with all these options (all basic LE options) PLUS snrf, DVD, NAV, OFF, Hard Tonneau Cover, and Nissan Certification.
Great - I'm excited to see it. Friday we looked at another local one (the one that I bought), so Saturday we make the 3 hour drive to Roseville to look at it.
Cliff notes: What a POS.
The rest of the story:
The battery is dead. While he is working the jump start, I walk around and take some notes. Mysterious yellow writing of "4WD" on the diff. Yikes - no tonneau cover!? Oil pan cover - check, but no "4x4 OFF ROAD" stickers. The salesman says he probably took them off. We go inside the truck, and there is no e-lock button for the rear diff. Seeing as the tonneau cover and OFF-pkg weren't part of my criteria, we take a test drive anyway. I'm thinking I can score this truck for cheap now since their asking price is clearly based on what they have in their computer for the options.
I notice that the 4x4 light is stuck on. I switch from 2WD to 4WD, then back again - it does not turn off. My girlfriend likes the idea of the snrf, so we check that out - it opens 1". The salesman tries PUSHING it to open, "I almost got it!" he says. The wheel shimmies badly while cruising.
Given the issues, I lowball the offer based on FIXING the things wrong with it. They counteroffer with the "internet price". I don't bother haggling and leave to buy the gem I saw Friday.
My biggest question is how could this vehicle have been certified? I followed up with the General Sales Manager, but he is yet to return my call. Should I document this to Nissan USA? BBB? I'm looking for suggestions as to how I can make this right for the next potential buyer of that truck.
Thanks,
SS
