: Paragon Part deux
steves 08-27-2006, 01:48 PM After all the fun and excitment this weekend, we've decided that there's another trip to Paragon in order sometime in October.
I'll handle planning this one...
It will be another weekend affair of off-roading, beer drinking and BSing!
I've picked two weekends, and I'll run a poll here and at TS for the next week or so to gauge attendence and preference for weekend.
LDOTITAN 08-27-2006, 07:24 PM Is Paragon a town name? If not, I need a town name to know how far from Newport, Rhode Island this is.
RedTitanLE 08-27-2006, 08:24 PM It's in Hazleton, PA: www.paragonap.com
ChicksDigEmToo 08-27-2006, 08:27 PM You know we dont want to miss this!!! I gotta look at JT's schedule and see what the finances look like! Are we gonna camp?
titanse05 08-27-2006, 08:27 PM I'll check my calander but I'm probably good for both those weekends, but I will check and make sure tomorrow!
Must have transfer case skid plate and BFG's by October! Hopefully I will be able to complete some other mods on my list by then too.....and no lifting isn't one of them.........that reminds me, got to check my Powerball tickets....
steves 08-27-2006, 08:32 PM Yes, I'm planning that we'll camp again at the same campground. I'll be there Friday and Saturday night, hauling out Sunday morning with Kristin + dogs. There are hotels local, and within driving distance of both the campground and paragon however note the following rules that I expect to have in place this time, since there is NO CELL PHONE service from the campground.
1. We will meet at the campsite to head to Paragon at a pre-determined time.
2. Anyone who misses us at the campground will meet us at Paragon.
3. We will hit the *trails* at a predetermined time
More details to follow after we get a better idea of the head count.

LOL..then we wont have any fun waiting around for all the laggers! Actually I'm one of the laggers...so.....
I love steve...he's such a take charge guy!
steves 08-27-2006, 09:02 PM Well, more like trying to gently persuade folks to camp instead of using the hotels. You'll have more fun anyway!!! The campground has flushing toilets and hot showers.
ChicksDigEmToo 08-27-2006, 09:39 PM yes...I had more fun camping for sure!
titanse05 08-27-2006, 09:50 PM I'm up for camping, but Beth and Woody aren't so willing unfortunetly.....
jerseyparts 08-27-2006, 10:16 PM I guess I couold camp, does the campground have cabins?
let me know what dates we decide...
goval 08-27-2006, 10:22 PM I looked at Map Quest and this place is only 1 hour from my sister's house at Hillside, NJ. So I might consider going there if I can drop my daughter at my sister's. So it'll be me and my wife this time.
Mazaduh 08-27-2006, 10:28 PM I'll check my calander but I'm probably good for both those weekends, but I will check and make sure tomorrow!

yea i am hoping to have the "NEW TITAN" mod by then to!!!!
cause i dont think Chicks will be in the mood to let me drive again!!!!
lov ya chicks
goval 08-28-2006, 07:52 AM Alright ladies and gents, I'm officially going. But, yeah there's a but, I can only do one day, which would be Saturday. My sister is having her baby before then and I have to make a trip up there to Hillside, NJ to see him. Around that time frame, my mother will be there also from Arizona to help her on the first month of the babyhood. We can leave Friday from VA Beach, arrive there(NJ) that same day, and leave to Paragon Saturday morning (1 hour trip). We would have to leave either that same day at nigthtime, or Sunday early morning, because we have to come back to VA Beach on Sunday afternoon. I'm going to take the day off that Friday, so is my wife, who have agreed to go with me last night.
I can't wait. I tested my 4WD yesterday again and it worked fine, but will take it to the dealer just to make sure it is fine. I might slap my factory Off Road wheels and tires for the trip.
Oh, and I have this buddy of mine that is trying to get a Frontier. I will try to get him motivated after that Frontier beat us down at DE. He currently has an X-Terra.
I’m in and by October I should have my 6 inch lift on it :devil-big:
steves 08-28-2006, 08:55 AM Right now it looks like we're leaning toward early october with 4 (total votes) to 3 (total votes).
goval 08-28-2006, 09:03 AM Right now it looks like we're leaning toward early october with 4 (total votes) to 3 (total votes).
Well, I just found out that my sister doesn't deliver the baby until the 12th, so I can only make it if it's after that date.
PenguinLE 08-28-2006, 09:08 AM I'm good for either date, but I'd "prefer" the 21st. It's just easier on my schedule at work for tthe entire month.
We might be camping this time around... we'll see.
ChicksDigEmToo 08-28-2006, 09:08 AM Well...the later the better for us to recoup. We are gonna be recovering from the Tenn meet the first week in October.
goval 08-28-2006, 09:11 AM I’m in and by October I should have my 6 inch lift on it :devil-big:
Oh F**k! Now I have to sell my wheels and get a lift too. Lol!
Naaaah! My truck can handle it. As long as my 4wd works this time.
JackedTitan 08-28-2006, 09:15 AM Oh F**k! Now I have to sell my wheels and get a lift too. Lol!
Naaaah! My truck can handle it. As long as my 4wd works this time.
I think we have a video of you saying "I don't need no stinking lift"....LOL
steves 08-28-2006, 09:19 AM Sounds like the "core" group aka folks I know will be there are leaning for later in the month...
I just picked two random weeks that weren't back to back.
PenguinLE 08-28-2006, 09:23 AM Will the mosquitos be dead by then???
I must have been the buffet for the Smyrna Colony last weekend because I can't even type without scratching SOMETHING...
JackedTitan 08-28-2006, 09:26 AM Will the mosquitos be dead by then???

The mosquitos are as big as bee's here.....LOL

Sweeeet! I remember that.

No sh*t man. I'm on the same boat here.
JackedTitan 08-28-2006, 09:31 AM Sweeeet! I remember that.
No sh*t man. I'm on the same boat here.
I'm uploading the vid for you now Goval, I'll post it for you on the pics thread.
PenguinLE 08-28-2006, 09:49 AM Hopefully, they'll update the maps this time... We were gunning for a closed road for how long? At least we found a mud puddle to play in...
ChicksDigEmToo 08-28-2006, 10:09 AM Sqeeters...I trained them to bite only the boys! I'm good...I think they wanted a taste for new blood!
Sounds like October will be fun. Is preacher Man coming?
RedTitanLE 08-28-2006, 10:38 AM I think we will be camping. I found the shower and bathroom facilities actually NICER at the campground than the crappy Days Inn...
JackedTitan 08-28-2006, 10:48 AM I think we will be camping. I found the shower and bathroom facilities actually NICER at the campground than the crappy Days Inn...
Anyone think to check what the average low temperature is there late in october for camping?
steves 08-28-2006, 10:48 AM Lol! yes, the facilities at the campground were very nice. Next week I'll call the campground. I know that they are "closed in winter" but I'm not sure exactly when that is.
Anyone think to check what the average low temperature is there late in october for camping?
40's and 50's at night. Bring those tent heaters and extra blankets!
titanse05 08-28-2006, 12:36 PM I think we have a video of you saying "I don't need no stinking lift"....LOL
I said that at Paragon after going through the mud pit.....
Will check with Woody on the two dates also......I prefer the 21st as well

Tent's.... Haaaa!!!

Looks like I'm shooting for the 21st as well. Gotta asess the funds as we get closer though. That's a five hour trip for me at 8mpg. :(
jauten1 08-28-2006, 03:04 PM All dates in October work for me.... 13th and 27th are best though....
Finally a chance to get a little mud on the tires :D

Heh. Camp in a tent then loser! :udaman:
RedTitanLE 08-28-2006, 06:09 PM Heh. Camp in a tent then loser! :udaman:
ROTFLMAO!!!
We'll be the losers shivering in sleeping bags while they are snoring away in climate control. :D
steves 08-28-2006, 06:16 PM I saw that tent heater that JT had last time. I'm gonna get me one of those deals!
LDOTITAN 08-28-2006, 06:49 PM I'll admit it....I'm a hotel guy during that kind of temperature.
goval 08-28-2006, 09:18 PM Camping to me is when you go out in the woods with no bathrooms, cabins, ovens, nothing; just you, your tent, and all the "do it yourself gear" (water jug, cooking pan, sleeping bag, flashlight, etc...).
RedTitanLE 08-28-2006, 09:19 PM Forget that!!!! :D I like indoor plumbing :D
goval 08-28-2006, 09:23 PM just ask the Army and Marine guys in here how it is to leave in the woods for 2 weeks(survival school). Indoor Plumbing? The closest you get to that is digging a hole and doing your business in there, lol.

You are more than welcome to camp that way if you wish! :)
The campground we'll be at has flushing toilets, hot showers, and hookups for those with campers!

Lol. Naah! Like LDO, I also don't do well on those kind of temperatures.
I'm thinking of making a bracket to attach a camera outside of my (or any other) truck to film and snap pictures when we hit the trails.
My last job we did that on a helicopter. My boss taped his camera on the tail of the helo while he was flying and approaching the ship I was on. Came out sweet! He had a remote control that controlled the snaps on the camera.
We can do this when we're doing the off roading.
We wrap the camera with a plastic back and leave just the lens showing to protect it.
Then we drop the movie to our new Frontier member and let him do his magic.
PenguinLE 08-29-2006, 08:26 AM We're thinking of camping so we don't have to worry about stumbling back to the hotel...
I think I fair better in colder weather. Less bugs and nasty critters to worry about!
steves 08-29-2006, 08:30 AM I think I fair better in colder weather. Less bugs and nasty critters to worry about!
Yeah, the only thing you have to worry about is the "red dress."
Mazaduh 08-29-2006, 08:50 AM I totaly forgot about that!!!!!!:angst-big:
titanse05 08-29-2006, 12:32 PM Yeah, the only thing you have to worry about is the "red dress."
I'll be surprised if it's still there......
Hopefully we will get a bigger turnout this time! Everyone that is scared to take there TITAN should note, that a LIFT IS NOT REQUIRED! A leveler will get you around just fine.....just take off the bling step bars so you don't have any top-dead-center problems and your good to go! I was timid the first time, but my truck won't be so lucky in October!
LDOTITAN 08-29-2006, 03:30 PM A leveler will get you around just fine.....just take off the bling step bars so you don't have any top-dead-center problems and your good to go!
How close would the OEM bars be? I worry about taking stuff on and off. I have a bad streak of damaging threads and stuff.
steves 08-29-2006, 04:02 PM LDO,
You likely won't have any problems with your step rails if you pay attention to what the others are doing.
Both times I've seen a step rail get messed up was when the trucks owner grew a set of nuts and did something a little extreme.
jhromy's bars got messed up at paragon running through the mud puddles. Rob's got messed up last week because of the decent angel on the hill.
Taking things on and off shouldn't discourage you from wanting to go. It will take like 20 minutes to remove the step rails and brackets, right?
Remember, at Paragon there is *always* a way around an obstacle.
Just spoke with Greg about getting my new lift and this is what he recommended for me.
6 inch Pro Comp lift
RADFLOW Coilovers with reservoirs for the front and RADFLO rear shocks with reservoirs for the back.
Ps: I think I’ll be able to do more crazy things in Paragon then in Symrna DE after I have this installed.
titanse05 08-29-2006, 05:04 PM LDO,

Actually......jhromy's bars got messed up in a top-dead-center situation on the 2wd access trails. He went a bit too fast over one of the "humps" and the weak brackets holding his Westin Ovals bent (I was behind him when he did it).
If you pay attention, the bars will be fine.....you just have to pay attention and take your time.

PenguinLE 08-29-2006, 06:04 PM Now I'm thinking of buying those rear shocks for the FX4.
Only, Red's trying to convince me to buy an '08 F250 Diesel FX4... due for release in late January of 2007. Decisions, decisions...
RedTitanLE 08-29-2006, 06:06 PM mmmmmm 650 ft/lbs of torque... :D

Nah man, everyone is always welcome! If you saw my garage, or my shed, you'd understand why the Titan doesn't have more mods on it...
goval 08-29-2006, 08:02 PM How close would the OEM bars be? I worry about taking stuff on and off. I have a bad streak of damaging threads and stuff.
At DE my truck touched the bottom, but I had the skid plates from the Off Road, so no problem there. If I had the step bars it would have definitely damaged it. I also have the same lift you do.
I'm so surprised that after I told my wife about getting a lift, she just asked if she would have a problem getting inside the truck. I said not to worry cause eventually I'd get step bars. And that was it, I mean, that was it, a simple "ok" from her. Weeeew!

Hell no.....DO IT!:udaman:
I'm just jealous, that's all.....
I'm considering the 4" Performance Lift with the front and rear DRs.....I was dumb and should've asked Chicks to take her truck for a spin around the block too......but I still had a boner from driving Jacked's truck.
Here's a thought that Woody brought to my attention......Is there going to be any mud there that time of the year? Would be worth looking into......since we were there in May when it rains.
Magnum 08-30-2006, 12:16 AM oh man this looks like a blast ! i wish i could go they need to build that bridge already :)
Shiftyb 08-30-2006, 06:09 AM I suggest that if you can go............GO!
You dont need a lift but it helps.
For those that dont know what you are in for, heres the Paragon video from the last time.

I wish the hell I could go again. Im way too far away now! It makes me sad thinking about it.
PenguinLE 08-30-2006, 08:02 AM Here's my take.
If we want to run through a mud puddle, we can find that ANYWHERE.
I enjoyed the crazy trails, inclines, rocks, weird paths, etc... just as much if not MORE than covering Steves truck in mud (errr, I mean MY truck, that is...)

Yeah, some jack a$$ went hauling through this mud puddle and got my truck all muddy. At least I had my windows shut!!
Anyway, we will stick to the trails that are rated for stock 4wd vehciles. Trust me, no one in this group feels like they have anything to prove to anyone. We're just out to have a good time, snap some photos, and really have an excuse to party afterwards!
goval 08-30-2006, 08:18 AM I have a feeling this meet is going to be "The Bomb"! This is going to kick the DE meet in the butt.
I already have plans for some "cool" snap shots and video.

goval 08-30-2006, 08:25 AM Um...er....ahem...I DO!!! But it doesn't matter because I'm not allowed at Paragon anyways :p :D LOL!
What do you mean?
Mazaduh 08-30-2006, 08:54 AM To all those wanting to go to Paragon. I went with steve last time. And steve was fully aware of his stock titan. HE did'nt go thro any of the mud. And he still had great time. Nothing was Damaged on the titans. Also DRiveninthemedom was the lowest truck there for some reason and he had no promblem's and as the pic show he went threw almost everthing. Unless you want to count the fact that we did'nt let him jump his truck over some of the hills...lolol
All in all it was a great time. No one in the group would ever make you do something you not comfortable with. Because they know that you are drive a 25-36 thousand dollar truck. an add bonus is a lot of us have been there and know what to expect from the trails. And we have a lot of people that have been 4wheeling and know what they are doing and know what a titan can do!
Also Pargon is realy good about keeping up there trails they allways have two ways around any path they have. So that mean's if there is a mud puddle then there is a dry path right next to itso on and so on.
The real reason we go is for the after party anyways.LOLOLOLOLOL
:feuerkopf2-big: that and trucks hehehehe
PenguinLE 08-30-2006, 08:56 AM Don't worry, I thought the "Bunny Trail" represented some pretty hard-core offroading action!!!
Heck, I thought some of the "2wd Access Roads" might give my 8" lifted 4X4 some problems!
Level 4 - "Expect body damage"
Mazaduh 08-30-2006, 09:12 AM lololol

steves 08-30-2006, 09:56 AM What do you mean?
You can't go on the property at Paragon without 4wd. Although it was rather comical to watch the group of Westfailia's running around...
PenguinLE 08-30-2006, 10:24 AM We stopped for a quick bite to eat and to think our next move at that one section. We looked down that rocky path and thought, "Man, that looks pretty rough... maybe we should turn around."
No sooner than we doubted ourselves, this friggin group of VW bus-thingies plows past us at like 20mph down the path we were thinking about.
We were all like, "Oh, oh, oh... No way! We are SOOOO going down there now... We can't let some crappy VWs show us up!!! Uh-huh... I know that's right!"
goval 08-30-2006, 10:33 AM We stopped for a quick bite to eat and to think our next move at that one section. We looked down that rocky path and thought, "Man, that looks pretty rough... maybe we should turn around."

Don't forget the smell of Ganja that wafted off them, nor the guide in the jeep following them who stopped to comment on what a bunch of dumbas$es they were.

They are going on tonight......
I think that the new ones are better suited for some off roading......the brackets seem stronger, uses twice the bolts, and I know that the rails are stronger. Most importantly, the middle support bracket isn't in the center of the rail. Important for those top-dead-center situations.

PenguinLE 09-03-2006, 10:39 PM Now I need to buy a tent, heater, bug zapper, air mattress, ect... or maybe we'll rock the hotel again?
Actually, the tent would be more confortable...

ChicksDigEmToo 09-03-2006, 10:43 PM make that two heaters.....its gonna be COLD! whaoooooo...bring on the long johns!

Yesterday she was all for it......she asked "so when we go what do I have to do?" I replied,
"take pictures, loosen up, and have fun" then she replied
"ok"
But I can tell you one thing for sure, if she comes along there is no way in hell that we will be staying at the campground. Hotel for us, for sure!
RedTitanLE 09-04-2006, 10:47 AM Noooo you have to stay at the campground!!! :(
At least stay at the Hampton Inn or something. That Comfort Inn sucked...

steves 09-05-2006, 11:04 AM Yeah, no need to bring the lint roller at all...
Mazaduh 09-05-2006, 11:31 AM Well, more like trying to gently persuade folks to camp instead of using the hotels. You'll have more fun anyway!!! The campground has flushing toilets and hot showers. You have to remmber we have So much fun on and off the road that you need to be there in order to take it all in. plus it's a good way to show that ur just as tuff as your truck!!!!
PenguinLE 09-05-2006, 04:25 PM Yeah, no need to bring the lint roller at all...
For the record... I didn't have a lint roller. THat would be my weird WIFE that had the lint roller... :zunge-festgeklebt-b
I "accidentally" burn a hole in a shirt yesterday while showing the kids next door how to use an empty pipe to launch bottle rockets at things, so chances are I'll be wearing it at Paragon...

Does that mean that I can book a room at the hotel, get pissed drunk, and have you drive me back there?
steves 09-06-2006, 01:48 PM Okay, so the poll is just about closed out, but I think we'll be going with the weekend of the 21st. I will call the campground this week, and most the "official" announcement in the next few days.

I guess that depeneds on if Nick is allowed to come to the CG, and if his wifey decided to kill you or not after said evening of drinking.

Well, sh!t... The campground is 75% the reason to even go! What is more entertaining that getting drunk and throwing stuff into the fire??? :thumbsdown-big:
titanse05 09-06-2006, 06:43 PM We'll be there late......campfire is a must! The wifey will probably be in full winter gear, but she'll get through it. If it's too cold, she may stay home. Will have to see till we get closer to the date.
And yes Penguin, you and Red got a ride if needed.
