So I got to play in the storm we had yesterday and was "playing" in 6" of snow on the roads. I did find something I felt was a little strange. When the truck is in 4H, I can "feel" it. The truck seems to be working a little harder. Also, I drive 25 miles one way to work and the trans. temp gage does not move. Last night when I drove 6 miles to the pizza joint, the trans. temp gage was reading half way. I've owned two other 4x4 trucks in the past and have never felt the truck in 4x4. I always had to look to see if it was. Is this normal on the Titans or do I need to have the shop look at it when it goes back for her first check up? (currently 750 mi.)
BTW...the truck does well doing 50 mph in 6" of snow! (except for that damn stop sign at the bottom of the hill)

Being able to feel it in 4hi is normal. Your tranny temp gauge is acting normal as well for your short trip in 4hi. It's the shorter trips with stop and go action that will heat the tranny up quicker. What I'm not sure of is with more miles if being able to feel it while it's in 4x4 will go away. I guess it's possible that things will "loosen" up over time but that remains to be seen until more owners get more miles racked up...

I got 14,000 miles on mine already and still can feel it when it's in 4HI. But again here in Chicago, don't get too many chances to use it!!

I would think with time and use the transfer case would loosen up but then again maybe not. You might get some better responses from those who use it quite frequently, perhaps smokedya2 or Bixll or really anyone in the northern states. I think I've only had to use mine like 3 times so I always notice a little "drag" when it's engaged.

yea i did experiance some drag or the extra power needed to push it in 4x4, but that was only at first. i would say that ive put about 1,500-2,000 miles on the truck while in 4x4 (some very very hard miles) and that felling is completely gone. i also used to have some troble makin the xfer case switching from 2-4wd but that is totally gone now also.
i think JT is right and the transfer case just needs some use and time to fully breakin and loosen up. now that mine is brokin in im going to change the xfer case fluid to mobil 1 and should be ready to go many many miles :D

Thanks folks, That eases my worries and I won't run right to the shop to have it looked at.
BTW...why did we need 15.5" of snow on March 12? I really want to get out there and give this 'ole girl a nice bath and polish!!

Snow is great!! Best sledding in 10 yrs. I'd guess close to 3 ft on the ground with, last I heard, 24" of ice on long lake. It's gonna be a while until my boat gets in the water. :(

I went full synthetic on the front/rear diffs and xfer case after my first 4x4 outing, with about 1000k on the od. This weekend during my second outing, there seemed to have been a little smoother transition between 2-4wd. I really didn't notice the 4x4 feeling as I was on semi-rough terrain when I shifted.

It appears we just might be up there towards the end of next week. We might even drive up and get all that nice salt all over my shiny, Atlanta based truck.... :)
