OK, so I was a the stealership getting my oil changed and the service rep says its almost time for the 30K service. she says this is a major service which flushes the fuel system, oil change, diff, etc...basically all the systems get a flush and fill. I've heard of this being done at 60K but never 30. I asked how much this will cost and she is like, "oh its only $480.":punch-big:
Has anyone ever done this at 30k? I'm at 23K know so its not that close, but close enough.

Thanks.
J

Hey Demond, I read through your post on your radiator...I had a coolant smell after my second oil change. I looked all over like you and didnt see any drips on the pavement. I saw a few splatters of coolant on like the fan and around the filler tank but nothing major. I took it back( an hour drive) and they "couldnt find anything". I smelled it notciably for about a month and now I dont smell it. I figure they just spilled a bunch when they were topping it off or something. I was worried though.

I dont think I will be doing the 30K service unless one of you Nissan Tech guys on here says its really worth it. I change the oil at the correct intervals and check it at every fillup.

I wouldn't let them flush anything except tranny and maybe the radiator.

It prolly was just a spill I wish mine was just that. It has been running fine since the final fix. I now have CD player trouble with my maxima(32 days on order and still counting). I am not sure if I will have the 30k maint done to that yet.

JMO , If your truck has 30 000 miles on it , it needs to have all fluids changed . After break-in , fluids are contaminated and MAY cause damage if not replaced .
You are only saving money NOW . And your truck will suffer the consequences . The service schedule is put in place for a reason . It is not entirely a way for the dealer to make money .
I follow service schedule faithfully , my dealer knows my truck and takes very good care of it (I wait while getting service) and I check it over before it leaves .
Yes it is expensive , but not if your warranty won't cover something because you never got it serviced . (personal experience)

I just had my truck out of 30K service yesterday. It cost me $327, but it is well worth it.

I agreed.Despite service manual that is too soon.Anyway, they gave me this:30,000 miles
replace engine oil&filter
lubricate all locks& hinges
lubricate propeller shaft
replace engine air filter
replace in-cabin micro filter
replace wiper bglades
rotate& balance tires
perform multi-point ispection; $294.95 plus tax,Quest Extra $35.00
If I'll do it myself ,it will cost me $50.00-$70.00. So,I gonna do it myself .
If I need to flush the fuel system, oil change, diff, etc.,I steel gonna do it myself.

The dealership also wants you to do any and all services at the dealer...ooooh I better do what they say! If I don't do my Mobil 1 Oil change at the dealer and pay $69.99 it won't be the same as if I do it myself for roughly $32.00! What are you gaining from having your fuel system flushed? That is why you have a fuel filter. I can see having your tranny flushed and filled at 50K but not 30K. Cars and trucks have been around for over 100 Years and in the last few years it has become necessary to spend such an insane amount of money at the dealership! I just traded my '05 Maxima in at 26K on my truck (Oct. '05) and ran Super Unleaded, used Mobil 1 etc... and did not make a &^%* worth of difference when it came to trade it in! $480.00...You've got to be kidding me! When the dealer tells me (sells me) on their scheduled service plans I give them the same response as when I bought my truck and they tried to make an additional $400.00-$500.00 bucks on the Extended Warranty...OHHH REALLLY!

Sorry to bring up an older post but, for the 30k maintenance is it really necessary to replace the drive belts and fuel filter? For the life of me, I don't recall ever having to replace any belt at that mileage. Is the fuel filter something that can be easily replaced? Thanks

I believe they just inspect the belts. I have never changed a fuel filter myself so I cannot say.

I am not sure of the exact location myself but on my old 95 t-bird it was under the drivers door area.

I'm at 1 Year and a week (31,300 Miles) and didn't perform the 30K / $400.00 check! Nothing has exploded yet!

I always take my autos in before 36K to have them go through the truck for issues or TSBs and then just keep using Mobil 1!

I just checked out that link and it is pretty cool, but I typed in my zip code and there was only one on there that I would trust with any of my vehicles and they won't work on Nissan tranny's. LOL
