I cleaned mine up Sat and I put the CAI in Fri along with a bath and wax. :fan2:
Where's your TB Cover? I wanna paint mine and was wondering if I could run a few days without it on.
Also noticed you have a couple more screws on you CAI Box. Mine's not sealed down good. Just noticed it this morning when I was showing it off. So should I do that too? Gotta have matching screws tho!! :moonwalk:

Wow, you have a good eye noticing the extra screws I installed in the cover plate....

I installed 2 extra screws midway on that cover plate to seal it down a long time ago. They are number 8 screws I think, just small sheetmetal screws. Matching screws would be a serious pain to install and would probably make the holes too big without an insert like the originals.

You can run without the intake shroud if you want. Sometimes I put it on there and sometimes I don't. I like it more with it off, now if I could just clean up all the wires because it is REALLY busy looking without the shroud.

I use a silicone based tire shine. It evaporates nicely and keeps the wires and hoses from getting brittle and cracking. The stuff I used this time was Meguiar's hot shine tire spray. The bad thing about this stuff is it stinks like hell.....it's aweful...Use in a well ventilated area!!!

The thing I lke about the Meguiar's is that it doesn't attract dust. I have a buddy that swears by Son Of A Gun shine, but I tried it and within a couple of days the whole engine compartment was coated in thick dust. I prompty scratched that one off my list!!!

No pressure washer, I just spray some simple green on the engine, let it soak in a few minutes, then just hose it off. Works like a charm!!

HOSER down old buddy.....What's the saying....NO FEAR!!! Seriously though the Titan connectors are well sealed. If you look closely you'll see they have an accordian shaped boot on them that seals them off when snapped shut. I've done this probably a dozen times to this engine and have never had a problem. NO FEAR!!!

I plan on using some 1/4 turn fasteners to secure the lid to my cold air box. I think I'm even going to make an aluminum lid because I don't like carbon fiber. The sheet metal guys at work love doing projects like that, so I'm going to bring the box in and let them have at it. I'll be sure to take some pictures when they can get around to doing it.

No need to be ashamed raw....I used to live in salt and snow country so I know what it's like and I don't envy anyone having to put up with it all winter. When I moved to Atlanta from Maine I thought I had died and gone to heaven. HEAT, and no salt....Now that I've been here almost 18 years, all I want to do is go further south. I've turned into such a wuse that even the mild Atlanta winters get to me.

I believe that Formula 2000 would also do the trick ............ What I normally do is to steam clean the engine compartment, wipe of all the extra water, leave the engine compartment slighly warm from the engine running getting the excess water off...spray with Formual 2000, and
have it shine like a baby's behind!!! LOLOL :D

Baja and NateL.....you might want to check out scr38's recent thread about his Volant mods. By filing down the 4 corners of the airbox slightly, he pretty much eliminated the bow/gap between the lid and the box. Then you can add a fancy plexiglass custom lid to it like he did.....looks nice!

Hmmm, I use to be a detailer, and can tell you any oil based tire dressing or any dressing for that matter will attrack dust faster. It's better to just wipe it on with a sponge on the areas you want to protect. I use to do it myself till I got tired of it getting dirtier faster. I just do it fo car shows now.

I hope you meant you used a non-silicon based tire shine. Silicon is the worst thing you can put on rubber, plastic, and leather. Armor-all is basically silicon gel. It promotes dry rot, attracts dust, leaches polymers, magnifies UV rays and is almost impossible to remove.

The Meguries you Cite does not have silicon.
Description:
Hot Shine’s high gloss formula gives your tires a “wet-look” with a dark shine. By combining highly water-resistant polymers with antiozonant technology, Hot Shine keeps your tires looking blacker longer while preventing cracking, browning and premature aging. Available in a 15 oz. aerosol or 24 oz. trigger spray.

It is good stuff and works like sunscreen, not baby oil on your plastic and rubber.

Just wanted everyone to know not to use silicon and get confused because of the origional post.

I would have to agree to never use armorall on a vehicle, I made the mistake of detailing the plastic parts on my last Dodge and the plastic turned white and generally looked terrible. I don't use anything on the black plastic of my Titan, Meguires Hot Shine when I detail the tires.

I was just joking puv about letting the thread die. It's actually kind of interesting to see really old threads resurrected every now and then. My engine and truck are all clean right now. Just a heads up. I am an aircraft technician, and the crew chiefs on the airplanes used Simple Green like crazy when it first came out. It cleaned the planes like nobody's business. Then like 3 or 4 months of using this stuff, the Air Force found out that it was corrosive and will actually eat the metal after repeated use. Simple Green will clean almost anything, but if they won't let the crew chiefs use it on planes, I don't want to use it on my baby.

I used to be in the AF and I know what you mean about Simple Green being the ultimate cleaner. But, I have to disagree with you on the corrosiveness of it. I had my troops detailing out trucks for a whole year with simple green for every dog an pony show. Not to mention it used to clean everything else in the office. There has yet to be an incident on any corrosion. It might be the AF was going cheap for cleaning products or there were other factors for corrosion ie: altitude, humidity, environment, aircraft care, and so forth. I still use Simple Green on everything and have never experienced anything negative except I really don't like the smell.

If you use it straight (without dilluting it) it might eventually cause paint damage, but as far as a corrosive, no. Used it to clean everything from bilges to desktops on ships and no corrosion. It did take paint off the tool boxes, though.

Maybe that is what it was. These guys were not diluting it at all, just spraying it straight out of the bottle. I think that is what it was doing eating paint. I just rememeber all of a sudden in role call on night shift they were very stern with the crew chiefs to stop using it immediatley. Thanks for all of the info. I feel really bad here. Why? You ask. My signature pic says it all. I bought this truck based on the simple fact that it hides dirt better than any other color on the road. With the gray powdercoat wheels, brake dust shows only when you are close to it and look at it. What I am getting at is I only wash the outside of my truck every month 1/2 at the best. Now I clean the inside every week, but I do not care how the outside looks. Which I know is not good for it, but since I only keep my trucks 15 months before getting rid of them, the next owner will get a chance to clean it. Am I a bad person? lol

My truck is straight their house was built crooked! j/k. I live on a pretty good hill. I am about 20 feet above the street. I tilted my camera to try and make the truck straight. Check this one out taken from my porch, you can really tell that it is downhill: http://www.clubtitan.org/modules.php?name=coppermine&file=displayimage&album=509&pos=18

I remember this like it was yessterday. The one big one was caused by my mail lady that very day. I did tell her not to pull back into my driveway because of it. You ought to see the stains in front of everyones mailboxes. The other little spots are from leaves. Around here in the fall as leaves are falling and then it rains it leaves spots on the driveway. I clean them with a pressure washer at the end of the fall and after all of my trees have lost their leaves. Which actually takes a while since I have about 20 hardwoods.

I just went out and took a picture for you to let you see that I have cleaned the spots off since that happened as well as the mail lady deposit. lol It is hard to believe that it was 72* here 2 days ago and now it is frigid out there. Which is why I have been on this computer all day.
