OK, i know everyone has been driving uptown and seen the local kids having a car wash, i was just wondering how many of you actually let them wash your truck......i've never done it, not because I'm being mean or greedy, but i just don't trust anyone around my truck but me....am i alone?

I'll let them wash my s-10. It's 10 years old with 120k on her. The titan, NO FREAKIN' WAY!!! I'm like you. I get paranoid when people walk thru grass before they get in the truck. I'm not gonna have a bunch of teenagers wash my truck with a rock or something in the rag that they used to clean 50 cars before me.

Thats funny!!!! But honestly i don't care how much "Independent Suspension" that they are packing. No touchy the trucky.

LOL, I have a set. BUT, you can never have too much suspension. Especially when the terrain gets rough. LOL

It depends on who they are and who's watching them. I would not let the girls do it (as much fun as it might be to watch) alone, but I would let the guys. I think they do a better job. NEITHER will touch the truck if it appears there is NO adult supervision.

Regardless, make sure they are using car wash soap and not dishwashing soap.

You guys are crazy! Aren't you supposed to start washing from the bottom of the truck and then move to the top surfaces!?

LOL. I know what you mean. After I went mudding awhile back, I spent $15 and over 45 min just rinsing the mud off of my baby. That doesn't even include time spent actually using soap and a brush.

i would never let them wash my truck. Problem is they do nto care how they do it or know to add more soap and water when its a dirty spot to not scratch the truck,..

Then there is the nissan titan paint. It is possible my truck looks like it went through a sagebrush field when they got done because the paint scratches so easily.

One of the downfalls of Black, it shows every little flaw. Looks AWESOME when clean though.

Funny you posted this, I went to see my parents yesterday and there was a girls swim team holding a car wash.

At this point in life, make me feel like a lecherous old man...
To answer the question though, no carwash or me nobody else. And not just any carwash either, there's only one or two that I'll go to.

what's the downside to dishwashing soap?

it strips the wax off, i use about every third or fourth wash, but only because i wax mine after each wash and i figure it's good to get rid of that stuff every so often

Which wax do you use and why? I've heard that it damages the clearcoat to wax that often. Is that true?

i use the ice detailing wax most of the time, every now and then when i'm really feeling spontanious i'll use the actual ice wax, it's so exspensive i just can't see using it all the time, the detail wax works great for me........and i choose to wash and wax that often cause my truck is like chick's, it sees a lot of mud and dirt.....lol

I wouldn't let a teenager touch my truck. I remember how I was as a teenager ~~ years ago doing these car washes. I took pride in using the same sponge to wash all 30 cars I did in 4 hours!

Same here....I always ask the dealer not to wash it, unless they are going to wax it.
