Went for a road trip a couple days ago to the Columbia Icefields near Jasper . 3 hour drive but incredible scenery . I didn't go on the tour , I hiked up the glacier but I was more interested in checking out some of the trails I had seen in the area . Plus I wanted to find a camping spot far away from everything . Found a great spot by the river and probably 10 miles from the highway (took me an hour to get there from highway ) .
Had a peaceful evening , but freakin cold at night , BRRRR . when I fired up the Titan in the A.M the temp. said 2*c (35*f) . Frosty coconuts !
Hit a few trails , then headed home . Good Times .
looked on map , Elevation of Mt. Columbia is 3747 m ( 12 293.3 ft ) . Truck ran great and climbed the steep grades like nothin' .

That looks Heavenly. Is that the bed-tent you have or just a regular one stuck in there? I assume you have an air mattress. I wanted to get one of those Tian-specific bed tents... that's why I ask.

Thanx guys,
The tent is normal , just fits nice . I think a bed tent would be better though , more room and if it rains lots the bed of the truck won't fill up w/ h2o . W/ my rack though I can throw a tarp over the whole tent :)
I have a couple more pics of the bus . I got pics of the display signs too , hope you can read them .

I didn't see you mention the trip onto the glacier in the bus. Did you take that trip?

I did it in '89 and it was a treat.

No , I didn't take the bus , I hiked up the path . Good workout , especially at that altitude/elevation LoL
Ralph , in '89 was the icecap bigger ? Last time I was there I was 8 yrs old and I have no retention . LMAO
What was I talking about ?

Spody, I can't answer your question. I've not been back since '89 so I can't tell you if it was bigger then or now. Sorry.

Update : Friday sept .15 . After heavy rain for the last 2 days , We had a huge dump of snow last night (10-12 inches) . I had to go out for a drive , left my house at 12:30 am and got back at 3:30 am . It was great , blizzard conditions , practically a white out.
The Titan is the most amazing truck I have ever owned , I was on paved roads for half the time (6 inches of slushy stuff) . Had it in 4 high and could go as fast as I wanted , very stable and predictable .
The other half of the time I was on logging roads and oil lease right-of-way's (dirt roads) . The combination of mud and snow was a perfect test for the drivetrain , not to mention very rough roads w/ huge puddles .
The only problem I had was the heavy wet snow sticking to the front . The headlights would get covered from the slush getting splashed everywhere . I was'nt taking it easy on her either .
Any way , I am going to go out again today , I hear the higher elevations got tons of snow ;) . I will post pics tonight .
Happy Trails

Dude, those pics are sooooo photoshopped. :-p

Just kidding. That is an awesome way to go camping. Find some backroads and go to a desolate area where you can be alone and enjoy the scenery. Those are some really nice pictures. Must have been great out there.
