: Brakes Replaced
coyotesniper 09-11-2006, 10:14 PM So I took my truck in today for a free oil change and to have the brakes looked at. Once in awhile my front driver brakes will squeak. They called me this morning and said that there was a service bulletin regarding "NTB 06-016, New brake pads and shim kits," and that they would be replacing that stuff even though I didn't request it. I was happy when I left the dealership for the very first time since I got the truck. If your brakes "moan" or "squeak" then you should take it in and have them do a repair according to the bulletin.
nytitannv 09-22-2006, 06:13 PM I have taken mine in twice and told them that and they changed them out both times with no hassle.

Why don't they last?.........that DOES sound like a hassle!
jp4026 09-23-2006, 06:27 AM glad to see I'm not the only one. I thought I was crazy because everybody says that the 06' has a "new" brake kit. Mine squeak and have a judder under hard braking and sometimes even under normal braking.
Can someone tell me where to find that bulletin on the Nissan website?
MADLAD 10-27-2006, 12:59 PM so i have a 2004. i had the brakes replace about a year ago because of the recall. i had both a brake jutter and excess brake dust. now here i am less than a year later and my brake(s) are scretching and occasionally my stering wheel will jutter when i brake. is it just me, or if i got new pads and rotors last january (10 months ago) my brakes shouldnt have this problem, right? im going to bring the truck into the the dealer next week.
skeet 12-03-2006, 08:59 AM I bought a 05 born date of 3-05 but bought it used. How can I tell if the brakes have been replaced with the newer brakes? Thanks.
ChicksDigEmToo 12-03-2006, 09:07 AM Mine only moan in reverse...I just thought they were encrusted with mud.

The bulletin I posted is the one my dealer told me about. I'm not sure if it is on the website or not, I've never looked.

P_Roy 12-04-2006, 10:38 PM did they have this issue on 2005 models?? i got mine last april and had the dealer change my oil twice but havent mentioned any service bulletin or anything.
Could someone post the link to the TSB if they have it? I have 2005 and had the rotors replaced 4 months after I bought it. Now at 25000 miles Im getting some grinding and squeeking going on. I will probably take it in to the stealer this week.
LonewolfMedic 12-05-2006, 01:07 AM I had mine replaced 2 months after I bought it, now a little over a year later it feels like my breaks are "mushy".
ArmyTitan 12-05-2006, 01:12 AM I had mine replaced 2 months after I bought it, now a little over a year later it feels like my breaks are "mushy".You might want to try this (http://www.stillen.com/product_detail.aspx?sku=309385) or these (http://www.stillen.com/product_detail.aspx?sku=308640)
LonewolfMedic 12-05-2006, 01:25 AM Damn, Army. You are the man! It looks like these would help a bit, do you have these installed?
ArmyTitan 12-05-2006, 01:31 AM no, I'm thinking about getting the brace though.....i had my brakes replaced a couple months after i got my truck and they seem to be fine, but they are nothing like the brakes on my wife new Pathfinder, that thing will throw you through the window.....lol
LonewolfMedic 12-05-2006, 01:37 AM That's funny, I'm trying to convince my wife to get one of those.
ArmyTitan 12-05-2006, 01:44 AM Well, I got my truck last year, we got my mother-in-law an Xterra, then my wifes Pathfinder, and last week my mom got an Xterra and next month my fater-in-law is getting an Armada, so wer're kinda like the poster family for nissan.....lol but my wife loves her pathfinder, i'll find the pics of it, give me a minute

I'm not sure if it is a problem on the '05's. The only reason my dealer brought it up and fixed the problem without my request is due to the fact that they piss me off everytime I go there. They have only received ONE positive survey from me, and that was when they changed my brakes out. They pretty much kiss my a$$ everytime I go in there now just because I hate them so much. I might give them another positive survey after my latest oil change though, since my SM was nice this time.
alphacheeze 12-07-2006, 05:44 PM Coyote....I havent had any luck on finding out where the bulletin is. What do I say to them when I bring in my truck to the dealership without sounding like im making it up? haha
eishozzzz 12-16-2006, 09:20 AM Mine started to go out at 3k miles, nissan breaks suck.
Leadsled124 01-03-2007, 01:49 AM hay im just shy of 2000 mi and dont have and brake probs yet(knock on wood), but i do notice that after i was my truck that there is brake dust all over my front rims really soon. i heard that on the past years that if they had the undersized brakes that you could see brake dust after the test drive. anyone else have this issue on the newer years?? BTW mine is an 06 kingCab
Boxerbay 01-03-2007, 07:14 PM They updated the TSB so you can only have it replaced once. After that your on your own. My T has 36K and the brakes are gone again. Dealer will not do anything for me. Stillen will and is on the way.

So basically Nissan won't stand by their sh!tty brakes more than once. Thats nice to know.:thumbsdown-big:
Boxerbay 01-03-2007, 07:18 PM unfortunately... that is correct.

:moonwalk-big::moonwalk-big::moonwalk-big:Well, the brakes aren't designed to handle the big rollers that you got. Those things are monsters!
With larger wheels an upgraded brake system should be installed.
spody 01-03-2007, 08:23 PM Thanx Dustin , I'm going in for service on monday and am going to check this out . I have a bit of squeeling . Although , if they will only do it once , I should wait till the brakes are more worn . HeHe .

hogwash... yours will go bad also, just will take a bit longer.
Campfamily 01-04-2007, 12:57 PM I'm at 18K on my 06 Armada; my brakes are awesome. They stop great, don't make noise, no brake dust to speak of, don't judder. On my 04 Armada, I had nothing but trouble with the brakes, five replacements in 15K miles. I used this, along with a couple of other problems I had, to get Nissan to buy my vehicle back. My opinion is that Nissan has fixed the brake problem, but it didn't happen until late in the 05 model year run.
Here is the link to the TSBs; this is for the Armada, but you should be able to navigate to the Titan TSBs.
