: New Mod coming Gibson Bolt on Exhaust
The folks at Gibson contacted me by phone this morning and are donating a Gibson Exhaust for review. As soon as I get it on I will do a review on the install and give you my impressions of the system. I'm sure there will also be some sound clips as well. Thank you Gibson again I can't wait to try it out. Read the article that sparked my interest in Gibson http://www.gibsonperformance.com/pdf/Titan_Exhaust_Sport_Truck.pdf

Donate you say, that's the way to throw around your power... good job.
What system is it exactly?
I've got some sound bytes of my new Gibson, didn't see how to post it though. If anyone hasn't heard it yet let me know and I will post a link or let me know how to put them here...

Gibson 3 Inch Exhaust?
Looks like the "Swept Side" system
That would be correct sir. Now just can't wait to get it. I will do a full review and take pictures and post sound clips as well. This will hopefully be the first of many reviews.

TDZE08 11-05-2004, 01:44 AM Has anyone tried out any of the Magnaflow products on their Titan? If anyone has, I would like to know if it is much louder. I had a '94 GMC Sierra with headers and dual exhaust (it was loud). I want an upgrade that is fairly mellow so I am sticking to catbacks. I am considering the Magnaflow single outlet. It is very similar to the Gibson single, but where I am at, the winters are horrible - there's so much salt, I was replacing the pipes on my Sierra every year and a half. So stainless is a better choice.
BTW, thanks for the quick reply M4ck. Truck looks great.
JetTech - the full back looks awesome. I'm really enjoying the quiet right now with the stock exhaust, but know the difference it makes. Did you find the upgrade much louder? Highway?
Thanks,

When I first installed the system is was incredibly quiet, so much so that I was a little disappointed. So I removed the Gibson 3" pipe, that had a resonator in it, and installed a straight pipe in it's place. Sounded a little better after that. The next thing I did was install 2.5" straight pipes where the factory resonators/cats are, that made the biggest difference. I still get a nice quiet ride on the highway and TONS of bark when I get on it. It's a sweet setup...

Yes, any new info? I am really interested in their single and assume that is what they will be sending you.
Yeh I got it yesterday. I have decided to have Bill do the review on this exhaust as I really do like my Dual Flowmaster setup. And I don't want to have to cut it out to install this bolt on. It does look really good though. Look for Bill to have a review up late next week or early part of the week after.

Hey, at least you're FINALLY gonna do something MECHANICAL with that beast! 8) Do a GREAT review as that IS the system I'm gonna get!!
BiXLL 11-19-2004, 11:30 PM I am in the process of lining up my dyno runs for the test. Will take some pics of install, try to get some sound bites after install. Is there any other sugeestions as to what info may be wanted durring the test process? I will give my comments and observations of the system once all tests are run, and I have a chance to experiance it for a few days. Now it just has to get to me!!!!
I would like to know if there really is an increase in MPG. If you could let us know what you average before and after the mod that would be great. I have read that they say you can see an increase of 2 to 3 mpg.
Caltitan 11-20-2004, 12:53 AM BixLL, Are you installing this yourself? I'd like to see a pic of the old exhaust parts next to the new ones if you can arrange that. Or if you're not doing it yourself and it is going up on a lift, take a before pic of the exhaust before it comes off and then an after pic of the new exhaust after it is installed.
BiXLL 11-20-2004, 01:09 AM Comparing the gas mileage will no no problem at all. I have recorded the mileage for every tank of gas that I have put in the truck so far.
I will be doing the install myself. Getting pictures of both systems installed, and both side by side will not be a problem.
