I switched out my Diff oil over the weekend. The titan has 23,000 miles on it and this is my first change. I changed it a bit early. It's supposed to be done at 30,000 but i have been reading all the posts about the diff and was worried. The old oil that came out was in pretty good shape. Still had a goldish color to it and the plug had little or no sludge/shavings. The tech said it was still in very good condition. I had it filled with mobil 1 syn 75/140. Glad mine was not as bad as some i have seen here with less mileage.

I did mine at 10k... and it didnt look too bad at all... some shavings on the plug, but not as bad as I had seen here

then the diff blew at 13k... I'm now at 16k, and i'm not sure I want to spend the $50 again on the Mobil 1, just to have it blow again. hahaha

good to hear you've had a good experience though... hopefully we hear more and more of these stories now, and less of my story!!

I noticed on the differential blow out list that most of them are 4x4 non BT. I wonder why?

Non BT have normal rears, as do 4x4's unless they have the OR Pkg. So hard driving on a higher speed rear would put more strain on it at take-off. Gear reduction of BT or OR "should" helpreduce that. I'm surprised they make 4x4 with original rear, OR rear should be standard.

Dont know, but mine is a 4x4 OR BT... sooooooo

I wish we'd get some definitive information on whether it is a faulty design, or faulty installation. I've heard rumors of a change from 2 to 4 pinion gears, and i've heard rumors of incorrectly adjust carier bearings... if its the later, the guy at the factory adjusting these carrier bearings probably builds the most 4x4 non BT titans than any others hahahaha ;)
