I think I might have found a shop that would do a group buy. Their parts get very high ratings from Toyota owners. Just let me know and I'll talk to them to see what we can do.

Rock sliders are a tubular structure that are mounted slightly under the body edge to protect the fenders, etc. from being damaged in the event that you wind up coming down on a large rock.

I can't find any pics to post.

Oh, those look nice, I've seen them on the Grand Cherokees. Too bad I spent all my money on my lift and tires. I asked my wife for my X-mas present to be a mod for my Titan, but she said no, she's not giving me anything more for "that Truck".

I might be interested depending on price, and what they are made out of.

I can build some myself for pretty damn cheap, but if the price is right...

For all interested parties, check out the link. I spoke with Jason and talked with him about the sliders. We need to decide on a style, if we all decide on 1 style the price would be cheaper. They were woeking on a Titan run, but didn't see the interest, so he may need a Titan for a couple days to do mock up. Clicky please

After looking at their prices I'm going to have to pass. If I decide the Titan needs them, I'll bend up some tube myself.

Step rails wont protect your truck like these puppies do....

I know, but the price doesn't explain the "usage" of those. You would use a step rail more than you would need these. Think of how often you would really use this? The price is just way too much for the type of product. I think Jerseyparts sell some cheaper ones, and they're in chrome.

Don't get me wrong, if you have the Benjamins, go for it. They do look sick!

but how much is it to fix the door and rocker panels on a titan?....I know i don't want to find out the hard way

demello does legit work. worth what you pay for it.

I think there is some ignorance and/or misunderstanding of what these are. They are not step rails, nor a piece of useless bling. Chroming them would be a waste of time and money because if you use them for what they are intended to be, they'll soon be scratched all to heck on the sides and bottom. The chrome would crack and come right off.

Rock sliders are exactly what they sound like they are. In offroading, you don't want to be taking large rocks or other hard obstacles under the center of your truck by driving over them. Too many things under there for it to damage or get hung up on including the rear diff. You should crawl up the large obstacle with a front tire, then cross over it with your rocker panel, which is the highest point on the body of your truck.

Rocker panels need protection as they are extremely expensive to repair or replace. That's where rock sliders come in.

Rock sliders are not thin walled metal like step rails. Step rails provide absolutely NO protection to your rockers. They collapse and will crash up into your rocker. I've seen them totally collapse and make a mess of the side and underbody of a truck.

Rock sliders are very thick wall steel and if properly designed, they can be used as a lifting point by a high lift jack. This is also important for offroading on vehicles such as ours, which essentially lack lifting points for a high lift.

Sorry, don't mean to preach here, but rock sliders are a critical component to serious offroading. They are also expensive to manufacture and install well.

I paid about $600 for my custom set, so this seems like a fair price. Don't want to spend that much? Buy their basic set and have them welded on yourself. Should work well.

Incidentally, I may want some mods to mine and Corona is a lot closer to my house than Orange where I had mine made. I may contact these guys.

We all seem to moan and whine that there isn't enough quality aftermarket products for our trucks. When a manufacturer steps up and shows some interest, let's support them. I'm not saying go buy them if you don't need them, but don't complain that they are "too expensive", particularly if you really don't understand what the product is.

John

I don't see anything wrong w/ the price . If they will protect my truck from rock damage and you can jack your truck up on these (if you need to).
NO step rail is going to do that .

I like the bolt on hybrid version .
They can use my Titan if I get a set for free . :)

Great example pics CrazySteve. If you look at the Tacoma, you'll see the doors close into the top of the rocker panel and there is maybe 4" or so of truck body there, before it curves under into the rocker.

Our trucks are designed differently and are particularly vulnerable to damage. Take a large rock, tree stump, rut, or other obstacle hard on the bottom of our trucks in this area and you'll trash not just the rocker panel, but also your front and/or back door. Wouldn't it suck to have your door jammed up into the roof and not open? LOL!!!

Our doors continue on down the side of the truck and roll under the bottom and into the rocker.

Go take a close look at your truck and you'll see what I mean. My rock sliders already have dents and scratches on the bottom of them and I've only had them on about 2 months!!!!

John

I know all too well about damage to my rocker panels....I got a big arse dent and the quote to fix is over $700. So.....I think that the price is right. You get what you pay for! I have a guy local that is gonna fab some up for me...gonna check his price first. He does all the Jeeps in the area so I trust him too!

Sorry to get off topic here, but ChicksDigEm, that engine cover has to be one of the nicest looking and well done piece of bling I've ever seen on a truck.

I'm not usually one for non-functional accessories for my truck, since I mostly use it for offroading, but that not only looks really cool (in my opinion), but is also extremely well designed and executed.

How do I buy one of these?

Regards,

John
