I use a synthetic wax (such as Menzerna Acrylic Jacket) as a base then add a coat or two of Meguires High Tech Yellow #26 (Carnuba).

The synthetic seems to add a better shine than Carnuba while Carnuba adds more depth.

If your truck is a dark color Meguire's #6 is great! Some people will use a polish rather than a wax...yes there is a difference! A wax will leave more of a buildup than a polish.

I use race glaze polish and sealant. I have also just picked up some mequires quick detailing spray and am happy with the results, I use it after every wash. I've been eyeing the zaino products, I have heard they are excellent but it just looks like too much work. lol

I used some two-step products until the late 70's when the polymer based
polishes came on the market. Those new generation polishes were so much
better that I didn't think the two-step products were worth the trouble.

Just bought some Black Magic based on the Consumer Reports ratings... but haven't actually used it yet.

Red always uses the Meguire's line of products. I don't care for that crap because it makes the truck look great for about a week and then it's completely gone. No protection, which is the entire reason I get off my fat butt to even wax my ride.

I couldn't care less if the punk at the light notices how "shiny" my truck is...

Well if that was the case all you would really need to wax was the tailgate. :)

When using carnuba was is there any benefit in using the paste as opposed to using a liquid or spray?

Carnauba wax is about as hard as a rock. Products that claim to be carnauba wax
contain a % of carnauba wax. All of the products that I have seen that contain
much carnauba wax are in paste form.
Below is one companies products. A 50% carnauba concentration is very high.
Zymöl Wax............ % Carnauba Wax ..................Price (8 oz.)
Japon ...............................37% (100% yellow) ....................................$45
Titanium ..........................51% (90% yellow, 10% white)....... $65
Concours ........................47% (10% yellow, 90% white)....... $160
NSX ...................................51% (80% yellow, 20% white) ............$160

Turtle Wax chrome polish on it. Make sure that your mother doesn't find out. Never dull pad on the stainless. and Turtle Wax ICE on everything else. The cool thing about the ICE is that you can go from body to plastic to black rubber parts without getting the white chalk. Just don't try to use it on glass. Goes on easy, buffs up gr8 and looks fantastic for weeks of Texas gulf coast weather. It looks like water going on but then WOW. Bird stuff doesn't even stick.

I agree about the protection, it's the only reason I wax. I bought Black Magic because of Consumer Reports also. It is definitely harder to wipe off. I hope that means it will last longer than Meguires. Meguires doesn't last more than 2 to 3 months where I live.

Yeah, my idea of "fun" is not exactly spending an entire Saturday playing "Karate Kid" in the driveway...

"wax on... wax off... wax on... wax off..."
