Well, i have only had my truck for about a month now and when it had 900 miles on it, someone keyed it, from the drivers side door to the extended cab area of the truck. So after calling the insurance company I decided that the most convienient thing would be to take it to Hall body and paint shop to have it fixed, b/c my geico rep was right there, and i could also pick up a rental there. Mistake #1.
I take the truck in on Thursday October 19th. I walk to the front desk and tell them im here to drop off my truck, and they say that my appointment was for 8 a.m. Not 12 like i had actually scheduled. So after rescheduling for 1, I meet the geico rep and he takes the pictures i get my rental and im off. Truck is ready Thursday so after leaving Baltimore Md early to come back home to get my truck, and trying to find someone to drop me off, I finally get to Hall.
I get there and they have the truck pulled up for me. I start to look at it, and I cant see much b/c it is in a shaded area. So I pull the truck into the sunlight. Thats when i see several areas of trash in the paint, what looks to someone using the wrong grit sandpaper in 2 areas (very fine scratches) and what looks to be an area of tape that was painted over, and not to mention the 1/4 inch of fine white dust that was all over my truck. I refused to take the truck, and they hooked me up with another rental. Apparently, the geico rep saw it in the morning, told them about it, and nothing got done.
So, i leave in my rental, and after running some errands, i get a call at 2:45 Friday afternoon, that my truck is ready. Keep in mind that this is on a rainy severly overcast day. I call them back before i get there and ask them to pull it inside and shammy it off so i can take a good look at it.
I pull up to the dealership and walk inside to take a look at my truck. Same paint over tape still there, more trash in the paint, dent wasnt removed properly, and someone looks like they got to happy with a wetsander b/c my truck had areas of worn paint, that it never had in the first place. My immediate reaction to the Hall representative, is again im refusing to take the truck and I ask where the Geico rep is. I find him and i showed him, and he agreed that it wasnt right. He offered to put me into a rental again, and i said no, i want the truck and im taking it elsewhere. I got the body shop manager and had him look at it, and he said "yes that it could be better" and to let me have it again and try, and that i would still have to pay my deductible. My reaction to him was, that if you cant do it right two times, than you cant do it right at all, and i will find someone else taht will. He told me and i quote, "the truck will never be perfect again, just face it." He then told me that "with how upset you are now, even if i do try again, it doesnt appear that you will be happy with anything that we do, so just take your keys and leave." I got the body shop to pay the deductible and and rent a car, so there wont be any b.s. with the insurance company.
My question is, Is it unreasonable to thing that my truck be returned to me in the same shape that i bought it? These are things that should easily have been corrected, no questions asked. But yet this body shop manager to a lesser extent said f--- you!:thumbsdown-big: I will be fixing this now with my own money at a much better body shop. And am contacting Nissan, the BBB, And Geico, hopefully i wont have to pay a thing.
Please save yourself the hassle: DONT USE HALL BODY AND PAINT SHOP!!!!
