On my last trip to the track I decided to log some temp info on the way there, while at the track, and the way home. Outside temps were in the mid 80s. I started off with the A/C on. Every time the compressor kicked on, the fans would come on with it. Temps ranged from 186-190. I have the fans setup to kick on at 195. The trip there also included a brief stop at a railroad crossing and the temp still only hit 190. I also turned off the A/C for no fan cycling at all but didn't have much in the way of stops along the way there. Temps stayed at about 188.
At the track, I would make a run and manually turn the fans on to 50%. I let it idle and it would sit around 186. I turned it off and let the fans keep running for a bit (until I could feel no heat being pulled from the radiator) and would start it and watch the temps. I got it down to 182 doing this. Watching the data, it took about 90 seconds to hit the low point, and then after about 2.5 minutes it would creep back up. Eventually the lowest I could get it was 180 degrees.
On the trip back home, it did the same as the way there. The exception being that I had the A/C off and it got to 194 degrees before the fans kicked on and since I use a variable speed controller, they barely kicked on to maintain the same 194. Once I got over 20 mph, they would turn off.

Sounds like they are working perfectly. The real test is with prolonged towing. Though I am glad to hear it is working well!!

I bought my Titan from Tom Peacock in Feb. 05, and overheard the sales manager talking about someone that races at the Baytown track. He told the service manager to get you whatever parts you wanted because you were selling more Titans, by beating those Hemi's, than their best salesman. He went as far as saying that if you tear that one up, he may trade you out for a new one to keep you racing. I don't know if he was just blowing smoke or not, but you need to go by and introduce yourself to the salesmanager and see if you can strike some kind of a deal.

That would be sweet but I don't kow how he'd act in real life if I spit the tranny over 1300 feet of track. If I had any kind of dealer support that I'm after, I would have had an engine apart and the following by now available for these trucks:
Forged pistons - from JE or some other company
Better rods, if they were necessary.
Bigger valves - folks there are 1300cc motorcycles (inline 4 -cyl) with bigger valves than our trucks have! Do the math.
Drilled cam sprockets and a degree wheel adapter so we could time our cams in.
Possibly a long tube header with some sort of Nissan cats attached to it.
Something to make the transmission shift harder (probably a resistor installed somewhere).
Know for a fact if there was an existing aftermarket posi unit that would fit the stock rear (and front).
A bigger throttle body.
Possibly a head porting service.
And finally, a crap load of dyno runs on a myriad of things to see if it really works or not.
And that's off the top of my head. I'm sure there are other things that could be done to wake up these trucks a lot. I think a programmer will be a huge boon to mods.
I'd entertain the idea if I knew they wouldn't strip every iota of warranty I have. As it is I roll the dice and take my chances - I'll accept anything that happens as a consequence of my actions and racing, but that doesn't mean I won't try to sneak it through. For example, my nitrous is currently removed and there are no signs it has ever been on the truck.

But would you settle for a SC and some programming...lol!
Great info on the new fans. Does it seem to be helping your times, being able to cool down between runs? Are ya planning any dyno runs to see how much you gained with the fans? Thanks for the update.

Peacock is a big player in Houston. They may be looking for someone to sponsor, you never know. I know some people there and would be glad to run it by them if you want. I grew up with a guy, who's dad owned a Nissan dealership in the mid 60's (telling my age now), when the Z was coming out and we used to take it down to Pearland and run it. There was another dealership named Gay Pontiac that was a bid player then. Great advertising for them.
Today the muscle car image is back and going strong. Drag racing is were they really show there stuff.
John Force isn't bashful.
