A few weeks ago I bought an 05 SE King Cab 4X4. I was sold on the smooth trans and the speed. What a great truck! Anyway, when the low fuel light came on I filled it up and could only put in 20 gallons. These monsters have 28 gallon tanks right? The next time around I waited till it got to the "E" and could only get 21 gallons in it. Does anybody else have this problem? Atleast the gauge is wrong in the good way. When my Trans Am's gauge says a quarter tank its really running on fumes!

there have been a few people with fuel sending unit problems. The dealer will fix it if you let them know. As far as filling up. I put about 21 to 22 gallons to fill completely up from almost E.
Oh yeh welcome to the Club fellow Hemi Killer.

Over time, my fuel gauge has been getting slowly worse. I have always had the low fuel light come on when there are about 9 gallons left, which was fine with me. But now the gauge never goes to full and seems to stick at 1/2 tank for about 60 to 80 miles (~5 gallons of fuel usage). I'm having them replace the sending unit when I return for the brake fix.

Well I dunno if this is like the Z or not...but The Z supposedly had 16 gal tank...but it's actually 20 gal..maybe its to keep the proverbial 1/4 tank of gas in to keep the dirt n'at from settling and causign early fuel filter clog?

Yeah I think we all kinda have that prob. When I think I'm out I only get about 22 in it. But I can live with it.

Welcome to the club! :D

My fuel guage is not right either...borderline retarded for that matter. While the needle does go to the full mark, or just short of it actually, it acts crazy as I drive. It's down to the 3/4 mark in about 40 miles, then takes 100+miles to reach the half tank mark. I don't understand it as most guages are just the oposite. Like you, when my fuel light comes on, I've used about 21 gallons.

We should have a contest to see who can run their tank down the lowest without running out of gas...It would be intersting since we don't have a guage for the last 7 gallons. That's roughly 80+ miles you could go after the light comes on.

Yeah, I noticed that when I fill up too. Its only on the F for a few minutes and then it drops like a stone to 3/4! Its between 3/4 and 1/4 for like 90% of my driving.

I went through three sending units in my '98 Frontier because it would never register full. I learned that if I didn't let the tank drop below 1/4 tank, i never had the problem again.

Mine does the same, but it seems even worse than some of the others here. When I fill up it never registers full, then in 35 miles I'm at 3/4 tank, then 75 miles I hit half tank, and about 200 miles I hit just below 3/4 tank and my gas light comes on. I then drive another 100 miles with the light on to about 300 miles then fill up and only get about 22-23 gallons in! Strange. :)

Mine did that during the winter, stuck at about 1/2 tank right after I filled up with about 40 bucks of gas. Stayed like that for about 50 miles and then went back to normal. Never happened again, and don't know what the hell it was all about.

Kinda strange stuff; since it got warm again, (last few weeks,) the gas gauge finally goes up to the top-- it had been hanging a little below full after fill ups all winter.
Aaaahh, blessed spring, season of bird flop, pollen and tree sap.
