I own a 2004 titan 4 door, this summer I will pull a trailer for about 25 days from Arizona to San Francisco, then to Southern California, back to Arizona then to Denver and back to Arizona.
If I add an intake system, and an exhaust system, will I save money, enough to make it worth while the expense?
Any sugestions of systems.

Depends on what you are expecting to get. What are you after?

My 2c worth: if you open up the breathing from both ends (intake AND exhaust) then you will eventually hit the break-even point in increased mileage. I'm not sure you'll reach that point over your 25 day trip but you will sooner or later.
Everybody has their favorites with both intakes and exhausts. The consensus seems to be that there isn't a big diff in the efficiency of the various intakes, Volant & K&N are both popular here. I think there's a general agreement that a cat-back exhaust system with mandrel bends is the hot setup. Performance single exhaust systems may even be a bit more efficient than dualies (believe it or not), but nothing sounds as sweet as a dual exhaust. Flowmaster and Gibson are two favorites here; Borlas are sweeeet but pricey. If you live where there's snow 'n salt think about a stainless system or at least one with a looooong warranty.
Just to confuse things further, a throttle body spacer (for example, the AirRaid) may further contribute to efficiency.
Good luck with your puchases (don't forget to check first with the vendors that sponsor this board!) and enjoy your trip.

nice feedback titanguy. im in the market for both a intake and exhaust also. i think im going to go with the volant cai and the gibson single exhaust. was thinking about the dual, but not sure if i want to go that route, are the performance gains about the same?

Also one more thing to add here concerning exhausts is if you're going to be pulling a trailer as you stated, the rear exit exhausts (under the bumper) are not recommended. You'll either need to go with a single side exit like the factory one or dual side exits like I have on my truck.

Flowmaster 70 series cat back dual system comes with the piping needed to either exit out the back or out the sides. Nice option if you ever want to switch.

CalTitan raises a good point, you can't beat the versatility of the Flowmaster duals. Just tack weld the ends for easy removal.
cbr1k: From what I've read here the high-performance singles are supposed to give you a little better overall performance (yeh I know, surprising isn't it) but I'll give back 1 or 2 horses for the sweet sweet sound of them dualies
& help me out here guys, which board member is it whose system is always being referred to as having the the most bang for the bucks, and what does he have? I'm having a momentary brainf@rt here ...

That would be slurppies truck. I went with him when he had his dynoed and couldn't believe the numbers. Actually he and I are going to meet up at the dyno again this Monday for another round. His dyno will be with the addition of the Volant and mine will be to see what having the cats welded to my headers did. Should be fun!!

Dont mean to jump on your post here Vid, but I too am in the market for a Intake/Exhaust....Ive been doing a lot of reading on this and other Titan forums and Im pretty set on the Gibson Dual exhaust, but still torn betwix the K&N 77 and the Volant. I was also thinking of adding a TBS like TGCNY said. Is the Airaid compatible with both Intakes? Also ive been reading about problems with the 77. Oil getting on the MAF and whatnot....anyones 2 cents would be GREATLY appreciated(SP?)...again sorry Vidguy

Everything I have heard so far has been to stay away from the K&Ns,appearently the filter media that they use is too large and allows some fine particulates into the motor.I have alot of buddies running diesels and they have all discarded thiers.
