Please forgive my ignorance, but what is the significance of the colored circles that appear at the end of one's screen name?

It turns green if you are online (signed in) :)

Green is for the member being online and logged in. Grey is offline or not logged in. Red can only be seen by me and I see you are red which meens you are hidden. LOL

I don't mean to be hidden. How do I "unhide" myself?

First go to your User CP. Then go to Edit Options. Then uncheck the Invisible Mode box.

I have tried repeatedly to uncheck the "invisible" box, but each time I do, leave the User CP section, then go back, the " invisible" box is checked again. What do I have to do to make it stay unchecked?

Are you saving the changes (at the bottom of page) ? Only thing I can think of .
