I was looking to see if I could find a way to buy synthetic gear oil cheaper than my local autoparts store and I stumbled across this site. http://www.performanceoiltechnology.com/Amsoilvs.Mobil1.htm Anyone have any expierience with amsoil? The numbers look good, but I'd be lying if I claimed to know exactly what they all mean. I just turned over 1000 mi. on my truck and I want to go full synth. My priority right now is the rear diff. Let me know what you all think. Thanks!

I am a big fan of synthetic oil, I use Mobil 1. I must say that I would wait untill I had 3000 to 5000 miles on my truck before switching over to synthetic. I may be old school, but I want to give the rings at least that long to seat themselves before going to synthetic.

I just changed mine to Amsoil a couple weeks ago at 3300 miles. Used Series 2000 0W-30.

Mobil 1 0w-40 is great oil. Jettech posted his UOA, and it proved to be an excellent match with the Endurance engine. You could go ahead and swap to M1 for your 1st oil change. Your engine will still continue to break-in with the synthetics (lots of engines come with synthetics from the factory).

I did first my first oil change at 3000 miles with standard oil. After getting good educated opinions from both sides, I decided to wait. I felt it would not hurt to wait for another 3000 miles. Jettech has done alot of testing and it seems that both work fine with the Nissan filter. The Nissan filter seems to be doing a great job no matter which oil you choose. I will end up with synthetics and continue to change out the oil and filter around 3000 miles. It has worked on all the car/trucks I have owned and clean oil seems to be a big factor in good engine performance.

I don't see that we have an Amsoil vendor on the site. Over at Titan talk a guy (Talkinghorse is an Amsoil rep)sells for a lot less than what you can buy on line for see number 13 post it's a cut, copy paste I put on there from another thread just to show the prices to another member.
