I've said it once and again, CAT back exhausts do not void warranties

do some homework

Magnuson Moss Warranty Act of 1975, 15 USC, 2302 and Clean Air Act 42 of USA code 7541, you have rights.

Most dealers would love you to bring the exhaust to them and get 80-100 bucks out of you..moght even give you a deal

This is excellent information Linc and Nate. Thanks to both of you for providing it. I'm going to make it a sticky here in the performance section so it won't get lost.

What's up, I'm new on here but I had a question about the exhaust systems. I went to the JBA Headers website and they said their headers will not void factory warranty, is that possible? Also, can you actually get true dual exhaust or do you have to go 1 into 2 out.

Thanks

Not quite........If you put a mod onto the vehicle and the vehicle breaks down or has a problem the manufacturer can void the warranty BUT THEY MUST PROVE that the breakdown or problem ROOT CAUSE was due 100% to the mod(s).

The question is really this...will the manufacturere cave and forfeit the root cause investigation and pay OR will they fight. I have witness them cave as in my case but I have also seen them fight depending on the bottom-line cost of the repair.

If it is just a part here or there they will cut their losses...if its an entire blown engine then they may fight unless it is obvious that the mod had nothing to do with the problem.

I know because I have been there and done that with the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act.

Thats a good question. I have a banks cat back and a k&n 77, and as of now I'm happy with my system. I have sacrificed a little low end grunt with this setup, but not enough to make a hill of beans difference. The mid-range torque is awesome though. I can floor it at 40 mph and in the blink of an eye, I'm at 70 mph. A quite noticeable difference from stock. Now I don't have a TBS, or modified reso's and such, so I guess I qualify as far as the warranty, but I wonder about the deal with headers. I have considered going with the JBA shorties, the modified reso's and true dual exhaust with 2 muffs. At that point I would probably do the TBS, and get the program re-mapped for a timing advance and lean out the a/f mixture. Now would that put me in no man's land as far as warranty? If so, COME ON 2010!!

Hainesport NJ huh, we'll have to hook up. I'm only over in burlington man and my best friend lives in hainesport. I want to get a CAI and exhaust. Thats it for now. I'd like a reprogram but from what i've found so far none exist. I have enough speed in the garage, just want extra pepp for the truck over stock. Who can own a stock vehicle
