Red Alert

Still not delivered... my truck, that is! I've ordered the RF upgrade for my SE KC. I've searched the Forum and get the impression that The RF does not support MP3 playback on CDs. Is this correct? I know I can play MP3 via the AUX port, but that will have my XM radio there.

Just curious to see if an upgrade is in my future.

TIA

You can get a mini-jack splitter which will allow you to use both.

Hi,
What's the difference between a home-made cd and an mp3 file on a cd? I can and do play home-burned cd's in my R/F system. They sound no different than the originals.

Your homemade cd's are probably burned in a cda format and each track is large only allowing you to record a dozen or so tracks. A mp3 cd is recorded in mp3 format that are smaller is size (and sometimes lower quality) and allows recording of hundreds (or thousands) of songs on one cd.

There are a few other formats that are large as mdinkle has stated. The problem is that the CD player has to have internal software (I believe it's software) called firmware to recognize them which our RF system does not. This is something Nissan dropped the ball on and should have added since MP3's have been around for years.
