Alright Fellow Texans, we NEED to decide on a Date.

Just got back from my "Road Trip", and had the Opportunity to Check out the Guadalupe River, and if you haven't seen it, Its Remarkable!
The River is roughly 4-6 foot deep @ 65 degrees, and the Views are Breath-Taking!

I also discovered that the Rockin' "R" ranch is the Only Toobing Rental place large enough to Accomodate a Titan Gathering. (there are others, but not much parking space. You won't get your door "dinged" at RockinR)
Here's the website http://www.rockinr.com/index.html

There are Group packages for 25+ people.
(I'd be happy to see at least Five of us!)

So far, (I think) we've decided July?
I Propose the weekends of 9&10, or 16&17?

If we go too early, the River's temp of 65, may be too cold; too late, and the river may be too Low (Bottom's rubbing the Bottom)

We (Wife and I), approached via FM306, to River Rd. (west side). The road is Very narrow, top speed was 20mph, but there was so much Beauty, I didn't Want to go faster than 10mph. Besides, the wife was hangin' out the window taking pics!

This is a very Beautiful area of Texas, very Relaxed Atmosphere. There are Hotels in New Branfels, to River side Cottages, and even RV's to rent.

So, Who's going with us, and what Dates are Best.

I'm in depending on the date, could we try for a little later, maybe mid-August perhaps?

Tat,

Being that I live right down the road from Rockin "R" you know im in.

June or the July 9th weekend would be good for me. August is not a very good time for me because of Football starting up.

Did you guys get a chance to go through Gruene (pronounced "Green") Usually thats the way I go if I head to Rockin R. Eat at the gritsmill, have a few drinks at Gruene Hall then toobin. :-)

Glad you made it back ok.

Come one, Come All!
Please don't Mis-understand.
This is a Meet of Titans in Texas - Texas Titan Meet!

I too am "Expecting" a Grandaughter in June, my Youngest is Graduating in May, and my wife has a Wedding to Photograph on July 2nd.
So, mid July is the Earliest I can go.

We NEED Freightliner to "Escort Us Tourists", so August is out.

Let's Hear it!
Stand Up, and TESTIFY! LOL!

Well, I looked around and this is the best "online" map I could find http://www.aaccessmaps.com/show/map/texas_all
Click on Austin, and it will "Zoom in" to show New Branfels and San Marcos off I-35. From this area use the River Map pictured above.

It's Roughly 3-4hrs from D/FW area, so add that time to what it would take you to D/FW.
I don't know what part of OKy you're at, but if you decide to spend the night (like we do), the road trip back wont be as Harsh.

There's a "Lazy river" at "Wet and Wild" Theme park in Arlington, (which would be closer to you) but you can't drink beer, and the Scenery is not as good. LOL!

Hope you decide to go. (Did I mention the "Hunky College Boys"?! LOL!

Awesome choice for a get together. Greune is beautful little town with many craftsman selling their creations, the honky tonk (as mentioned) where many current stars played before they were famous (George Strait and others) and the river. I'm a new member and ready for a road trip. July sounds good to me...

I'm sure I can talk some more people into showing up, and the Riverside BBQ sounds good. Also, since this is more than likely going to be a weekend trip for most of us, I thought toobing on Saturday would be a good idea, and if anyone wants to stick around until Sunday go to Schlitterbahn that day.

So far I think we could make that date. We would be in for rafting only since we have a 3-year old. How long do you get to do the tubing/rafting? My wife would probably prefer shopping in the area more than anything else. And I'm 100% sure she will insist on a hotel - yup, she's definitely a city girl.

Yup, mine too! (wife)
We're considerin' renting a riverside cottage, or a hotel room (whichever is easiest, I don't mind paying a little more for the scenery)

I'd like to spend Saturday morning meeting/mingling.
Eat some Grub, pack up the cooler, and RELAX down the River. Check out the shops on Sunday morn, then head back to Wylie in aft/noon.

Everytime I "Plan" an Event/Outing, it Always gets Changed. My KEY FOCUS is to Relax, catch a Beer Buzz, Float Down the River, See some Titans, meet their owners. In Whichever order that Works!

I'm an "Instigator". I'm not Afraid to Stand up and "Git'ER Done". But, I'm lacking (a little) in "Organization".

Any Volunteers? Help? LOL!

Sounds good, but the Guadalupe in summer will be jam packed. Granted not to say postpone until winter, just don't be surprised to get down there and end up spending 6-7hrs on the river to float a few miles LOL been years since I've been down there, but even then it was jam packed....atleast now they don't allow glass around there anymore, but can imagine the name brand stuff on the river bottom LOL

This is Why I Suggested the RockinR.
They've got a "Titan" Parking lot!
So, if we did have enough people "To Take over" the park, there is plenty of "Safe" parking.

But, so far I've got 4-Yeas!, and 3-Maybes!
If there's any "Lurkers" wanting to go I need to get an approx. headcount.
I don't want to tell the coordinator,"They'll be five of us", and then 50 people show up, or, vice versa.

So, SPEAK up People! HOOAHH! :fan3:

Sounds like a blast..I've been wanting to tube for a while anyway.

Will I be the only Armada guy there?

Which Rockin' R location do you want to meet at (there are quite a few according to that river map). I'd like to stay in or near Gruene if possible.
I assume we'll need to individually jump on reservations for lodging at the Rockin' R?

Let's nail down some details.

Main location has the biggest parking lot.
(near Gruene)
So far, individual reservations is the only route I know.
I haven't called them yet (still waiting on Some YES'S, instead of MAYBE'S) and my work is "picking-up pace" (been Busy)
The Group rates start at 25 people (or 12 couples), maybe we can get some "Attention" with 6 couples.

This website http://www.rockinr.com/index.html has all the details. "Linda" is the coordinator.

That's all the "Details" I have at THIS Time.

I would like to stay in a pretty neat place and make a special weekend of it. My wife is more the shopping type and I hear the folks on the river get wild. Sounds like we have some shopaholics on our hands. we may be able to swnd some of them on a shopping trip and we can can go toobin.

UPDATE.

I talked with "Lisa" (not Linda as Stated before)
She said if your Planning on staying over night, and haven't made your reservations yet, You Better Hurry!

If you plan to Bring "kids" they "Have-to" be 6+years old, they won't allow any younger.
If you're Pregnant, no go.

Also, laws in "That" part of Texas are Different than in DFW...
On Sunday, you can't buy beer B/4 Noon, nor can you "Consume" Alcohol in Public B/4 Noon.
So, if the Cops catch you with a Beer in your hand at 8am Sunday morn, that's a $200 fine?!

The Rates.
Parking, $10. (includes $5 "Shuttle fare") Return your Parking stub for $5 back.

Bring your own tube, $10 (same as above)

Rent "Bottomless" tube, $14 (includes above)

Rent "Tube with Bottom", $16 (same)

Raft, $30 (rafts are Scarce, first come first served, a reservation Guarantees Availability)

She suggested to "Meet" Somewhere else, otherwise to park, $10 fee.

By 10am, the Rental line is a 2hour wait, unless we have a "Group Reservation of 25+"

Unless we have a "Reservation", there is no "Guarantee" there will be tubes/Rafts to rent.

IF we Do make a Reservation, Half is Due B/4 arrival.
(a "Reservation" only Allows about a Buck per person Discount.)

After "Learning" all of this, and Since we Don't have a "Sponsor" (I Don't have the "Funds" to cover 25+ People that May or May-Not Show):

1) We NEED to Meet at the Main Location of "Rockin,R" at 9am(Saturday - 16th), to get our Rental Gear.

2)Organize a BYO-Food, or, Supplies for a Bar-B-Que. (I'm a Pretty Darn-Good Cook on the Grille - From Meats to Veggies!)

3)Try to MEET/Mingle Friday night, otherwise "Due to Saturday morn-Rush", we can Mingle on the River, and Check-out Titans in Afternoon or during Lunch.

Any Additional Suggestions?

Any Sponsors?

(I have more Answers, I just can't THINK what the Questions are right now)

Since THIS meet is Primarily for Saturday the 16th, and the Houston meet is around 2pm on the 17th, I don't see why we can't "Convoy" over to Houston for their meet. STRENGTH in Numbers!

To answer both of your questions:

Staples is about 10-15 miles from San Marcos down 123S(towards Seguin) to FM621 and that will take you right into Staples. Its a VERY small town.

As for the TT meet - being that I was born and raised in Houston...Memorial Park is on the West Side, but its inside Loop 610. Around that area is construction GALORE and traffic is ALWAYS a mess. If youre gonna try to make it to that from NB...leave EARLY in the morning!
