does anyone experiance a somewhat slightly jerky\clunky operation of the tranny in "D" below speeds of 40 or so mph, whenever i let off the gas pedal travelling at slower speeds below 40 the tranny is a bit slugish and "clunky" when i put it in "4" i dont experiance anything unusual, so it seems like this might be related to the torque convertor? does anyone experiance this, please post if you do or do not! it doesnt take long, thanks

Cant say that I notice the same on mine. Though it would make sense at that speed that the TC would lock up in 5th when you take your foot off the gas, then possibly unlock when you get back on it?!?
Quite honestly, you are probably better off just using 4th while in town anyways at those speeds. I doubt there is much of a diff in gas consumption, but there will be less heat and wear created by keeping it in 4th gear, as opposed to it locking/unlock in 5th.

yup i do use forth, fifth seems way to high for around town driving, you wouldnt be shifting into fifth on a manual tranny going 40mph would you hehe, oh well, i just got off titantalk and did a search and im not the only one, maybe its something computer related, do dealerships give free flashes?

If they suspect the ECU is the problem for what you're experiencing, and there is an update for you ECU, then yes.....they will flash it with the updated software for free.

Also, have them check the tranny fluid level. It could shift strangely if the fluid gets too low...

I have the same problem. Got an 04 Titan 4X4 offroad package with only 900 miles on it. Clunks when driving around town and surges when comming to a stop. I think that it is exactly as you all described.
Drove it around town in 3rd and problem went away.

you dont have to go as low as 3rd Thumper, just 4th so it eliminates the posibility of going into overdrive i believe, i want this fixed!
