Well I ordered it yesterday but I'm excited for it to get here. I decided to go this route instead of letting a muffler shop hack up my stock system in case I need a little "peace and quiet" for a while. This system is part# 8100 and is the dual outlet slanted behind the rear wheels. Although MrsJetTech loved the way my other exhaust sounded and looked, it had dual pipes under the rear bumper, I think this system will sound just as good and look great too. I'll make sure to report on how I like it after I get it installed.

More to come!!!

I have noticed the trend seems to be the slant behind the wheels. I always liked it out the rear myself.

JetTech, just had the resonater that comes with this kit replaced with a straight pipe and man does it sound better, it was just to quiet before,a little to raspy sounding. Now it's got more of a deep rumble throaty sound I've been looking for. Alot better tone. Might want to give it a shot if you end up feeling like I did.

Here's the pics of the Gibson Resonater.

well I just got it installed and man does it sound good. Very mellow and surprisingly very quiet. It retained all the low end torque of the stock system too which is a huge plus. I'm loving it!!

Also Finatic I looked inside that 3" pipe and mine looks different than yours. There are little slots all the way around it unlike your setup. Gibson must have changed it for some reason.

Interesting, very interesting...on hard throttle do you get a popping sound?

no popping sound on hard throttle that I've noticed. I've only been on one rip run so far just to see how it did. No popping sound though while I was out. As a matter of fact it's hard to hear it over the sucking sound from the Volant intake I have on it.

no pics during the install, it was all straight forward. Remove and replace, but I will take pics now that it's installed. With the directions they supply you can't go wrong.

By the way it only takes about 10 minutes tops to remove the stock system. That was the easiest part of the whole changeover.

Really. Did you have to cut anything to remove the stock? I was for sure you would have to.

no cutting. It was this simple...

Remove the 4 nuts holding the Y-pipe on to the cats, then remove 2 nuts holding the tailpipe on. That's it, just slide it out from the hangars and it's on the floor. I bet in reality it only took me 5 minutes instead of the 10 I said earlier. 2 pieces....very slick..

Do you find you like the extreme over the split rear? If so, any reason other then looks?

JetTech

I personally like the looks of the extreme over the split duals but another reason is you can tow with the extreme whereas they don't recommend any towing with the split coming out from under the rear bumper. I would assume this has something to do with the direction of the exhaust heat and gasses.

I would have never thought of that. I will need to look at that when I decide to put duals on.

Thanks for the info.

Everyone keeps talking about looks and sound -- but to me the most important thing is performance. Which of the aftermarket exhausts adds the most torque/horsepower to the vehicle??

Now that's a good question. The only setup I've dynoed was with a flowmaster 50 series, 3" in with dual 2.5" outlets. No one else has done any before and after dyno runs to my knowledge so it's pretty much a crap shoot at this time...
