: 30k Service Questions??
psutitan 02-12-2007, 02:08 PM My titan needs to go in and get its 30k maintenance but I have some questions.
Are these items worth it
-Inspect brake system..................................25.95
-Inspect suspension and steering systems........11.95
-Inspect fuel lines and vapor lines....................11.95
-test battery, install terminal pads and fuel injector cleaner.....32.90
These are just to "inspect". At this point should I pay to have those things "inspected".
Also under dealer recommendations they recomend they perform computer analysis to ensure optimim performance. Basically resetting my ECU correct? They want 44 bucks, is it worth it??

I would say, no, no, no, no, and no. They'll do a free diagnostics test whenever you want they told me.
Lurchdubious 02-12-2007, 02:31 PM i wouldn't pay for all those inspections. they're making pretty good money right there.
nascarjody 02-12-2007, 02:54 PM I will put it this way. If you cant show proof that you did your 30K service either by the dealer or do it your self & you have some a problem with the trans, rearend, or motor, Then you could get into a sticky situation. IF there is a problem then the dealer is going to ask for maint records first. To me it is just a little added protection to have the dealer do it for me. Even though I work a an Infiniti dealer we can not work on our own cars here at the dealer. I have to take it to a nissan dealer to have my maint done. Question, do I spend a little more now or spend ALOT later if there is a problem.
CBAGGETT 02-14-2007, 10:12 AM Do not do any of the services that you listed. It's a rip off! At 30k I would change the oil and filter, rotate and balance tires (most places do a free brake insoection with this service), trans fluid flush, rear diff service (you can do this one yourself, pretty easy). The computer deal is also a ripp off. The only thing the dealer can do with your computer is scan the fault codes and if your service eng soon light is not on then there is no reason to hook the consult up to your truck because there are no fault codes. The 30k service should cost you around $296.00 if you do the above and if you elect to change your diff fluid yourself then it drops down to around $200.00 for the service. They will look over your vehicle for free with just a simple oil change because they want to upsell you service, so don't go for all the extras that they are offering you.
BullGatorTitan 02-21-2007, 10:19 AM Just took mine in at 30,240 today, they are doing:
Tranny Flush: $150
Fuel injector and throttle body cleaning: $70
Alignment: $60
Also, under warranty looking at a couple of rattles, and the brakes again.
I will change the rear diff and the oil, so there is my 30,000 mile service.
Ok, so I went to pick up the truck and the prices were all jacked up. Ended up paying $170 for the fuel injector and throttle body cleaning, but they discounted some of the tranny flush because it is supposed to be $220. I was upset about the additional $91.07 for the cleaning and they are giving me a discount next time I have to go in for service. All in total, for the tranny, fuel system cleaning, and alignment it cost me $403.78 plus tax, or $430.03

What? $430.03!!!! :angst-big: Not me! It may be a hassle later but they have to prove you didn't do the service yourself. And jacking up the prices between dropping it off and picking it up. There is a reason we call them stealerships.

The thing is it is not there responcability to prove you didnt do the maint. It is your responcibility to show that you did.
psutitan 02-21-2007, 06:32 PM Here is what happened with my 30 k service. I went into the dealership myself to schedule the service and tell my service manager exactly what I wanted done to my truck. They were gonna do oil, brake system check, tire rotation, and check alignment.
I dropped it off and waited during my appointment 2 days later. It ended up that at the top of my order form the manger had the heading for 30k maint. so the mechanic assumed I was getting the full service 30k maintenence. After waiting an hour or so for my truck I overheard the manager talking to the mechanic about my truck and how I only wanted certain things done to it which were listed under the 30k on the sheet. The mechanic finished my truck and gave me a full service. OPPS!!
So I ended up getting my cabin filter free and some other stuff, plus I ended up getting a full allingment (thanks again paragon!) My final bill after my 10% parts and labor coupon came to 123.05. I made out on that. The service manager was def. a little peeved at the mechanic but oh well what could the do, undo the work which would have cost them more money. I got lucky!

I have no problems paying that for peace of mind later. I actually, according to my local dealership, got $70 off my tranny flush because they charge $220 for the Titan, and $150 for every else.
Yeah, I was upset at the additional $91, but we worked things out and got it taken care of. I feel fine about the price I paid today for the work I had done.
