What could I have done to scr#w the pooch on this one??? Did everything by the rules (as far as I could tell), now it'll fire up, run for about 4 seconds and die. Any advice on troubleshooting or wires I might have knocked loose? I tried to be gentle with the MAP sensor and not touch it but it was a tough angle to get at, could that be the problem? I'm staying at relatives about 500 miles from home and 50 miles from nowhere, any advice would be hugely appreciated.

:crying:

I'm posting this one all over the boards here, sorry for the duplicate posts. The worst part of it is my bro-in-law (the Ram Hemi Guy) is having to work really hard not to laff his @ss off at me ... how humiliating ...

Have you tried to use the gas pedal to keep it running?? sometimes after some repairs the vehicle has to relearn how to run..so you have to keep it running before it will by itself..

If that's the case.....resetting the ECU by unplugging the battery would also work. It would go back to factory settings. Anyone know a good rule of thumb for how long the battery would need to be unplugged for it to reset?

Thanks for the replies guys - I've tried pumping the throttle, flooring it, it sounds like once it starts it's starving for gas and nothing you do makes any difference.

I unhooked the battery BEFORE I started this project so the ECU would reset, it was unhooked for about four hours. I know it's a long shot but has anyone ever had trouble with their Titan not recognizing their key after an extended battery disconnect??? Yeh I know I'm grasping at straws here but the other alternative is to put all the stock stuff back on and then call Nissan Roadside Assistance ... aaauuughhhh ...

Ok, I have talked to a couple techs in my shop, they say the NATS system (immobilizer/key with a chip in it) shouldnt be affected, it usually takes 24hrs with no power to loose that programing..but you never know..they say either something is left unhooked or maybe the mass air flow is in backwards..hope that helps some..

MAF shiny side goes "up" not down. I read in your other threads you installed it with shiny side down. Reinstall it and enjoy.

Thanks for posting everyone. Rednight & CalTitan you hit the nail on the head (thanks also to JetTech for PMing me with the answer and some assurance) MAP goes shiny side up, same way you want your Titan to stay.

At least my bro-in-law the Hemi guy will have to be satisfied with ragging on me instead of my truck. Of course, now I get to be known as the only guy on this board who could eff-up a volant install ...

Glad to hear the truck is running!! Bet that feels good! you can tell your bro-in-law that even if your truck wasnt running, it would still beat his ram in a downhill race..

I'll never tell.... :nono:

Actually I haven't but I've had more then enough PM's and phone calls at home from people having problems.

Typically the engine will idle but will die as soon as you press on the gas. And the SES light will come on too, but it will go out within several days.

Yup....sounds like something I would do. Get bored at about 3 am when I get home from work. Then my truck wouldn't start I'd be panicing going nuts....so when this does happen...what did you say your home phone number was again?????!!! LoL

Think I was bad when I set my air bag light off....let me screw the truck up were it don't run...I might have a stroke!!!

My Truck Runneth Over!!!!!!!!!!

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

If it makes you feel any better I just dicovered that one of my tires is almost gone because I didn't let any air out once the temps changed. They started getting noisy. Turns out they all had 40 psi. I'll have to put the spare on to make the set last now.

And I always thought the 'Summer Air/Winter Air' was just a joke :D

Glad U got it fixed!!!!
