HI guys. I have A question regarding the break in

period of my new Nissan.How should I break this new

motor in.So far I only have around 200 miles on her.

HOw many miles do I have to put on it beforfe its

brocken in.

Someone at work was telling me that these motors

were already broken in when you get them but I dont

think this person is A reliable source even though

he also has A Titan. Dealer never said anything

about that. Just trying to get other peoples opinion

on this because I want to get A good break in on

this motor so it will give me plenty of miles and

I like to take it easy on it for about 3000 miles. Try not to get the rpm's up too high maybe stay under 2500 rpm for the first few thousand miles. I'm sure there are a lot of different opinions on this matter though. Just don't dog it too hard and I think it will be fine.

At the very least, I would follow the manufacturer's break-in recommendation that is in the manual. I think the period is for the first 1200 miles and running the motor below 4000 RPMs (that's the hard part). Also no towing the first 200 or 400 miles. I can't remember exactly so just check what is written in the manual.

I do know several other people like JetTech that go wide open for the break in period, but I'm not comfortable with that. I want to make sure the engine is operating properly before I beat the sh*t out of it. Just my opinion.

There is good reason to go wide open. No it isnt to have fun right away. Many or most engine gurus will tell you it is VERY important for an engine to see all rpm and heat (safe) ranges when it is breaking in. Many things are seated during break in and engine needs to see all these ranges during this period so it can perform to its potential. I have zero worries about stomping on it for first 1k or so miles.
